On August 14, the 1st Party Congress of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment was held in Hanoi. Comrade Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Government Party Committee, Deputy Prime Minister - attended and directed the Congress.
The Congress was attended by leaders of central ministries and branches; former leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and 259 official delegates representing more than 10,000 party members of 82 party organizations under the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the preparation for the Congress of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and highly appreciated the results achieved by the whole sector in the 2020-2025 term.
"Previously, we identified agriculture as just a pillar, but now we can say that it is the main contributor sector and has become a very important economic sector. Not only economic significance, the agricultural sector also has great political and social significance. In 80% of communes today, we are rearranging the two-level government, but we still record a period when we have worked together to build modern rural areas, smart farmers and Vietnam develops in the direction as committed. That is according to the economy including developed industry, services, trade in agriculture, converting agriculture towards greener, reducing carbon emissions. In the environmental field, we have shifted from a passive response to proactiveness. We have laws that are still of long value such as the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, the Law related to land.
Vietnam is a developing country but we have shown a proactive and responsible spirit in our international commitments. We are one of the countries along with the 7 G7 countries participating in the initiative on equitable energy transition. This does not come naturally, it is the world that has recognized our efforts," said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha expressed his confidence in the new Party Executive Committee for a stronger and more comprehensive way of thinking. The Deputy Prime Minister also hopes that the Executive Committee of the term will be a united collective and must inherit, nurture and promote the inherent strengths.
According to Plan No. 07-KH/dyU dated April 29, 2025 of the Government Party Committee on organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the Government Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030; The Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment organizes the Congress for the term 2025 - 2030 with 2 contents, due to being subject to consolidation, merger, reorganization, and new establishment, the personnel of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry for the term 2025 - 2030 is appointed by the Standing Committee of the Government Party Committee according to its authority.
Comrade Vo Thanh Nam - Deputy Head of the Government Party Committee's Organization Committee - announced the decision to appoint the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for the 2025 - 2030 term.
Accordingly, the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment consists of 31 comrades. In which, Comrade Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Government Party Committee, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment, was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, term 2025 - 2030.
Comrade Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, was appointed to hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for the 2025-2030 term; Comrade Ngo Hong Giang, full-time Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, was appointed to hold the position of full-time Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for the 2025-2030 term.
On behalf of comrades in the Party Executive Committee, in his acceptance speech, Comrade Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Government Party Executive Committee, Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment, expressed his sincere thanks to the Government Party Committee Standing Committee for their trust and confidence in appointing them to the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for the 2025-2030 term.
After the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment launched the project, Comrade Nguyen Quoc Toan, Chief of the Party Committee's Office, presented the draft Resolution of the Congress. In which, 6 key goals for the 2025-2023 term were stated.
Speaking at the Closing Session of the Congress, Comrade Tran Duc Thang shared: "Although forecasting the situation in the coming years, the setting has many advantages intertwined with difficulties and challenges in implementing the major goals set by the Congress.
After the Congress, the Party Committee of the Ministry requested Party committees at all levels, Party organizations, agencies and units under the Ministry to organize the research, dissemination and widespread dissemination of the Resolution and convey it to each cadre and Party member to fully absorb the will, determination and development aspirations of the Ministry and the Sector in the next 5 years and the following years. At the same time, develop specific action plans and programs for implementation, soon put the Resolution into practice, creating strong and effective changes in all fields".
