At noon on November 15, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government Standing Committee to consider the Project to plan the Red River landscape Avenue and Olympic Sports Urban Area, Hanoi Capital.
The Red River scenic Avenue axis is one of the 5 strategic axes that have been specifically expressed in the General Planning of the Capital. This project has a research scale of about 11,000 hectares, stretching over 40km along the Red River, passing through 16 communes and wards inside Ring Road 4, affecting 40,000 people.
The basic planning project has been oriented by Hanoi city with about 8 landscape parks, 12 theme parks, a total area of over 3,000 hectares.
The project will contribute significantly to Hanoi's achievement of 4 major goals including: Solving traffic congestion; reducing environmental pollution; urban beautification; solving flooding in the inner city. When completed, the project will also connect all overpasses of the Red River.
Setting a target of completing the project by 2030, Hanoi proposes to have special mechanisms related to tasks of planning, investment, land, site clearance and resettlement...
For the Olympic Sports Urban Area, Hanoi has approved the planning task of two subdivisions C and D with a total area of over 8,200 hectares.
In which, sub-area C has an area of nearly 4,500 hectares, belonging to the administrative boundaries of Ngoc Hoi, Nam Phu, Hong Van, Chuong Duong, Thuong Phuc, Thuong Tin communes; sub-area D has a scale of more than 3,700 hectares, belonging to the administrative boundaries of Thanh Oai, Tam Hung, and Dan Hoa communes.
Both subdivisions are being studied and planned with functions such as sports land; residential land; mixed; public services; schools; trees; technical infrastructure; relic land, religion; security land; national defense land; agricultural production...

Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that the Government Standing Committee agreed in principle; these are major projects contributing to building a "green, clean and beautiful" capital, modern and of international stature.
