On April 10, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu met with Acting Head of State, Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Chairman of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen.
At the meeting, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu respectfully conveyed the warm greetings and congratulations of General Secretary, President To Lam and senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to Chairman of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen on the occasion of the New Year Chol Chhnam Thmey.
Chairman of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen warmly welcomed and highly appreciated the official visit to Cambodia by Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, affirming that this is a vivid proof of the strong, sustainable and close development of Vietnam-Cambodia relations.
President Hun Sen sent congratulations to General Secretary and President To Lam and key leaders of Vietnam who were just trusted and elected by the 16th National Assembly at the first session of the 16th National Assembly.
Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu requested the two sides to continue to firmly consolidate political trust, considering this as a core and consistent factor, playing a strategic orientation role for the entire bilateral relationship; regularly, substantively and effectively maintain visits, contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels and Party and State channels to strengthen exchanges of views, share strategic visions, and promptly handle arising issues.
The Standing Committee of the Secretariat also proposed to increase economic cohesion between the two countries, focusing on solving bottlenecks and obstacles, promoting cooperation and economic development in border areas, promoting exports of goods, promoting infrastructure cohesion, creating further favorable conditions for cooperation between border localities, exchanges between peoples of the two countries, and at the same time increasing the complementarity of the two economies through promoting production and supply chain linkages, promoting comparative advantages in each country's fields.
President Hun Sen emphasized that in the context of a complex and unpredictable world and regional developments, the two countries need to unite in the spirit of friendship, historical attachment and further strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment.
Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always pay attention to developing relations with Cambodia, strongly support a developing Cambodia and are ready to support it as much as possible, and share experiences to jointly develop and build a country that benefits the people of both sides, for peace, stability and development in the region.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in defense and security, maintain the principle of not allowing third parties to use the territory of one country against another; soon complete the demarcation and marker planting work, contributing to building a border of peace, stability, cooperation and development between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination, resolutely fight, and not let hostile forces take advantage of distorting, inciting, and dividing the friendly relations between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The two sides agreed to closely coordinate in organizing solemn activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia in 2027.
