Besides the basic results achieved, the implementation of ethnic and religious policies, socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta region still has shortcomings and limitations; security and order in the Khmer ethnic minority region in the Mekong Delta still contains complex issues.
The Prime Minister believes that, to thoroughly overcome the shortcomings and limitations, there needs to be specific tasks and solutions to create a solid foundation for the development of the Mekong Delta region commensurate with its potential and advantages, consolidate cultural identity, improve the material and spiritual life of the people, and contribute to ensuring solid security and national defense in the Southwest region of the Fatherland.
The Head of Government requested departments, ministries, branches, and localities to determine that ensuring security and order is an important, urgent, regular, and long-term political task, placed under the direct, absolute and comprehensive leadership of the Party and the management and administration of the State.
Mobilizing the combined strength of the entire political system from the Central to local levels and the strength of the entire people, in which the heads of Party committees and local authorities are primarily and comprehensively responsible, first of all.
The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, and localities to focus on implementing 5 groups of key, key, and consistent tasks.
In which, it is necessary to ensure a close combination of socio-economic development with ensuring national defense and security and implement it right from the grassroots according to the "four on the spot" motto, placed under the unified direction of the heads of Party committees and local authorities, and the smooth coordination of functional agencies.
Departments, ministries, branches, and localities must focus on implementing ethnic and religious policies; implementing economic, cultural, and social development programs, creating jobs, resolving conflicts and grievances; promoting the positivity, self-reliance, and self-strengthening of people in socio-economic development and preserving and promoting the good values of traditional culture and beliefs.
Improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities in the area, create a solid foundation in social prevention work; eliminate and eliminate the causes, conditions, and factors that hostile and reactionary forces may exploit.
In the immediate future, in 2026, the Prime Minister assigned ministries, branches, and localities to complete 7 groups of major tasks, mainly focusing on caring for and developing the economy, culture, education, and health of the Mekong Delta region; noting that in the process of implementation, if there are difficulties or obstacles, report to the Prime Minister for direction to remove and unblock them.
