On the afternoon of November 21, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong met with President of the National Assembly of Korea Woo Won Shik.
Warmly welcoming National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik and the high-ranking delegation of the Korean National Assembly on an official visit to Vietnam, President Luong Cuong assessed the visit as of great significance, adding new momentum to promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries to develop more substantially and effectively in the coming time; affirming that the two countries have truly become each other's leading important partners.
National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam again; conveyed the warmest greetings of President Lee Jae Myung to President Luong Cuong; and expressed his sincere thanks to President Luong Cuong for attending the APEC Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, contributing to the overall success of the summit.
National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik said that South Korea will actively share experiences and closely coordinate with Vietnam to successfully organize the 2027 APEC Summit in Vietnam.
National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik emphasized that the relationship between South Korea and Vietnam is a special, inseparable relationship; South Korea wishes to further promote and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, and is ready to accompany Vietnam on the journey to achieve the goal of becoming a developed country with high income by 2045.
The two leaders expressed their delight at the important achievements of the two countries in many fields since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992 until now; agreed to continue to strengthen political trust to create a solid foundation to promote other areas of cooperation between the two countries; continue to concretize the commitments and agreements reached during visits by senior leaders of the two countries in recent times.
Appreciating the results of the talks between Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik, President Luong Cuong hoped that the legislative bodies of the two countries would closely coordinate to create a legal corridor, implement the content of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; support the agreements and commitments of the two governments.
President Luong Cuong said that the potential and strengths of cooperation between the two countries are huge; the two sides need to continue to strengthen political trust; increase exchanges of high-level delegations, ministries, localities, and enterprises of the two countries; promote defense, security, and cross-border crime prevention cooperation; strengthen educational, cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges to create closer cohesion and understanding between the people of the two countries.
National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik expressed his high agreement with President Luong Cuong's proposals; hoped that Vietnam would continue to support and remove difficulties for Korean enterprises and create favorable conditions for the Korean business community to feel secure in long-term investment in Vietnam; said that it would coordinate with Vietnamese legislative bodies to support the governments of the two countries to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, in line with the interests of the people of the two countries.
