At the meeting, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu informed that the socio-economic situation of Bac Lieu province in the first 6 months of the year continued to have quite good development steps. Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated at nearly VND17,180 billion, up 7.64% over the same period. In particular, sectors such as: fisheries, agriculture, forestry; industry - construction; services... all increased compared to the same period.
The agricultural - aquatic sector continues to play an important role in the development of the province; the work of building new rural areas has been focused on, in which Phuoc Long district has been recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting the standards for advanced new rural areas.
Bac Lieu province has completed 100% of the plan to support housing for poor and near-poor households living in temporary and dilapidated houses and poor households of ethnic minorities.
Also in the first 6 months of the year, the province has granted investment licenses to 9 projects; approved adjustments to investment policies for 11 projects; 285 newly established enterprises, with registered capital of VND 3,230 billion.
At the meeting, delegates unanimously approved 6 Resolutions related to the following areas: supporting additional funding for new construction or renovation and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives; adjusting the Housing Development Program of Bac Lieu province for the period 2021 - 2030; approving the list of works and projects requiring land acquisition in 2025; amending and supplementing the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and 2025 from the local budget and some other important contents.
At the session, delegates also unanimously approved the wish to remove him from the 10th term of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026, including 6 comrades: Ta Trung Dung - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Nguyen Chi Thien - Secretary of Phuoc Long District Party Committee; Tran Van Ut - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Huynh Thanh Hung - Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard; Tran Thanh Men - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade; Pham Thi My Linh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
Speaking at the closing session, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Council Lu Van Hung acknowledged and highly appreciated the strong and flexible direction of the Provincial People's Committee; the spirit of efforts of all levels, sectors and localities in implementing targets and tasks for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the first 6 months of the year.
The Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Lieu province emphasized that this is the last regular session, marking the end of activities in the historical period of the country when merging the two provinces of Bac Lieu - Ca Mau into the new province of Ca Mau.
With high political determination, the activities of the Provincial People's Council in the past term have achieved many outstanding achievements such as: organizing 27 sessions, the most in the history of the Provincial People's Council compared to previous terms; issuing 319 Resolutions... Supervisory activities have always been of interest, enhanced, focusing on major groups of topical and urgent issues that voters, people and public opinion are interested in.
Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Lieu province Lu Van Hung said that according to the Central Government's policy on streamlining the apparatus to be "streamlined - compact - strong - efficient - effective and efficient", in the coming time, Ca Mau province and the new commune level will officially come into operation from July 1, 2025.
