On February 3, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Mazen Turki El Qadi.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the visit of Speaker of the House Mazen Turki El Qadi will make an important contribution to promoting bilateral relations to enter a new stage of development, more substantive and effective.
In the context of the world and regional situation having many profound changes, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam and Jordan, with many similar interests and values, with a persistent struggle for national independence, need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation to open up new opportunities, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and development of the two regions and the world.
The Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam's determination to consolidate political trust and expand multifaceted cooperative relations with Jordan.
Speaker of the House Mazen Turki El Qadi affirmed that Jordan considers Vietnam an important partner in Asia, and wishes to strengthen cooperation, share, and exchange experiences in the strengths of the two sides, especially agricultural production, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, defense industry, cybersecurity, halal, and science and technology.
Jordan thanked Vietnam for its position, viewpoints and support for the Palestinian people and the two-state solution, welcomed Vietnam's participation in the Peace Council and affirmed its willingness to play a bridging role, effectively cooperate with Vietnam to promote peace and implement reconstruction and humanitarian programs in the region.
The two sides agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels, establish and effectively organize bilateral cooperation mechanisms and frameworks; including towards establishing permanent representative offices in each other's capitals, organizing the Political Consultation Session, establishing the Vietnam-Jordan Business Cooperation Working Group, as well as promoting the signing of important cooperation agreements on visa exemption, investment protection and avoidance of double taxation.
In terms of economy, the two leaders agreed to promote increasing trade turnover to 500 million USD by 2030 and 1 billion USD by 2035; promote market opening for goods with strengths of each side, support each other to ensure food security, and develop the Halal industry.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is ready to ensure a quality and stable supply of agricultural and aquatic products to Jordan, welcomed Jordanian businesses to Vietnam to explore investment and business cooperation opportunities and proposed research and deployment of technology to combat saltwater intrusion using Jordanian coral reefs in Vietnam.
The Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives proposed establishing a Free Trade Zone for Vietnamese goods in Jordan to export to the Middle East, and establishing joint ventures in potential fields.
