On April 29, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hau Giang province held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Attending were Mr. Dong Van Thanh - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Tran Van Huyen - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Tran Van Chinh, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dong Van Thanh - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hau Giang province - affirmed that the victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975 was a brilliant symbol of patriotism and revolutionary heroism; a heroic song about the noble sacrifice, indomitable spirit and strong revolutionary will of our army and people.
In 2004, when it was newly separated from Can Tho province, Hau Giang was a purely agricultural province with a low starting point, facing many difficulties and challenges. The Party Committee and People of Hau Giang have united, joined hands, promoted traditions, inherited important achievements achieved through historical periods, with a strategic vision, correct decisions, daring to think, daring to do, strongly promoting internal resources, taking advantage of opportunities, arousing aspirations and drastic actions, Hau Giang has developed and achieved breakthroughs, achieving quite comprehensive and impressive results in all fields.
Highlights, from the beginning of the term of the XIV Provincial Party Congress (term 2020 - 2025) up to now, on the basis of analyzing and properly assessing the position, potential, strengths and opportunities for development in the new period, the provincial Party Committee has bravely set out strategic breakthrough tasks, in order to gradually realize great aspirations; Building Hau Giang province to develop rapidly, sustainably, comprehensively and covering; soon became a good province in the region and the whole country.
In the first quarter of 2025, the economic growth rate (GRDP) of the province increased by 9.57%, leading the Mekong Delta region. The work of erasing temporary and dilapidated houses in the province was drastically implemented, the whole province built and repaired 1,418 houses and set the goal of striving to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses before May 19, 2025.
