Carrying the cultural identity of ethnic groups in the region

This afternoon (6.10), at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong had an intimate meeting with outstanding craft villagers nationwide on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Craft Village Association.

Also attending the meeting were members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; representatives of leaders of a number of central departments, ministries and branches; leaders of the Vietnam Craft Village Association and outstanding artisans, representing more than 5,400 craft villages nationwide.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam Craft Village Association Trinh Quoc Dat said that Vietnamese craft villages always have an important position in the economic and cultural life of the country. Craft village products always carry the cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the region, preserving the thousand-year-old cultural quintessence of our people.

Traditional crafts in craft villages are passed down through many generations, distilled and developed as a valuable asset of the country. With the attention of the Party and the State, in nearly 40 years of renovation, Vietnam's craft villages have had a great recovery and development. Currently, the whole country has 5,411 craft villages and craft villages.

Expressing his pleasure at meeting typical artisans representing more than 5,400 craft villages across the country, President Luong Cuong pointed out that craft villages are places to preserve pure Vietnamese culture, are places to produce handicraft products, not only have high use value, but also have high artistic value, demonstrating the talent, creativity and ingenuity of Vietnamese artisans; at the same time, are places to create jobs for millions of workers, contributing to restructuring, promoting socio-economic development and international integration.

Stating that the country is preparing to enter a new era - an era of strong and prosperous development with many advantages, opportunities, intertwined with many difficulties and challenges, the President said that in the development process, handicrafts are also an industry that is facing fierce competition due to the increasingly high requirements of international integration and national development.

In that context, in order for craft villages to continue to thrive, so that traditional handicraft products can reach far, have more and more prestige and brands in the domestic and international markets, the President suggested that all levels, sectors, localities, craft village associations and artisans should pay special attention to preserving and promoting ethnic culture, considering this a strategic task, a duty and responsibility of all levels, all sectors and the whole society.

According to the President, the creativity and talent of artisans are the most important factor creating uniqueness and sustainable value for traditional handicraft products; artisans are not only skilled workers but also those who carry a great desire for creativity, passion and love for the profession.

Assessing that in every stage of the country's development, craft villages are still a place to ensure a sustainable life, a safe and most approachable support for rural workers, ensuring social security, the President noted the need to further promote vocational training, arousing a strong entrepreneurial spirit for young workers in rural areas; constantly caring and caring to improve the lives, material and spiritual needs of the people of craft villages.

Along with that, the President requested to continue promoting the role of social organizations, professional unions, associations, vocational unions, craft village associations, and product industries in linkage, gathering strength for mutual development; organizing production, business, trade promotion, product promotion; improving productivity, quality, diversifying products associated with promoting the application of science and technology, increasingly better meeting the tastes of consumers and society; at the same time, special attention must be paid to building, protecting brands and organizing the creation of sustainable raw materials in the production and business process.
