The National Assembly Standing Committee has just approved the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period of 12 provinces and cities.
Localities considered for administrative unit arrangement in this period include: An Giang, Dong Thap, Ha Nam, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Tho, Son La, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Tra Vinh, Vinh Phuc.
According to the project to arrange commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period, Ha Nam province will establish Kim Bang town on the basis of the entire natural area and population size of Kim Bang district.
After its establishment, Kim Bang town has 17 commune-level administrative units including 10 wards and 7 communes. Currently, Kim Bang district has met 5/5 standards of a provincial town including standards on population size, natural area, affiliated administrative units, has been recognized as a type IV urban area, structure and level of socio-economic development.
Also according to the project to arrange commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period, Ha Nam province will establish 10 wards in Kim Bang town including Que, Ba Sao, Tuong Linh, Thi Son, Dong Hoa, Ngoc Son, Dai Cuong, Le Ho, Tan Son, and Tan Tuu.
In August 2024, the People's Committee of Ha Nam province announced that 98,371 voters agreed to establish Kim Bang town (reaching a rate of 98.53%) and 66,528 voters agreed to establish wards in Kim Bang town (reaching a rate of 98.66%).
According to Lao Dong reporters, Kim Bang district is located in the Northwest of Ha Nam province, in the economic triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, on the Northern Industrial Belt and in the central urban development area of the Capital region.
Kim Bang is a district with development potential of Ha Nam province, located in the urbanized area from important industrial parks and clusters such as Dong Van Industrial Park I, II, III, IV and neighboring local industrial clusters.
Notably, Kim Bang district has a large land fund and convenient connections with other districts and localities within a distance of 20-80km, especially Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ha Long (Quang Ninh) by road and waterway routes.
