Thai King and Queen successfully conclude visit to Vietnam

The visit, along with the foundation of 50 years of diplomatic relations, contributes to bringing Vietnam-Thailand relations into a new, more open phase.

In the late afternoon of September 16, King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana left Hanoi, successfully concluding their State visit to Vietnam from September 14 - 16, 2026, at the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, according to VNA.

Within the framework of the visit, the King of Thailand and the Queen laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs on Bac Son Street (Hanoi).

On the morning of September 15, at the National Assembly House, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly chaired the official welcoming ceremony according to the ceremony for the head of state, talks, and a reception for the King of Thailand and the Queen on state visit to Vietnam.

On the same day, Politburo members: Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had meetings with the King of Thailand and the Queen.

At talks and meetings, Vietnamese leaders emphasized that the first visit to Vietnam by a Thai King in the past 50 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976 is of historical significance, an important milestone in the good traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Thailand, especially after the two countries upgraded relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025.

Vietnamese leaders affirmed that Vietnam always values the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation with Thailand, and wished the two countries to continue to accompany and support each other in development, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region.

The King of Thailand expressed his pleasure to return to visit Vietnam; highly appreciated Vietnam's progress in national development, improving the quality of life of the people; affirmed that the King and the Royal Family of Thailand are always very interested in and support tightening the relationship between the two countries, the people of the two countries and consolidating Vietnam - Thailand cooperation relations in all fields, in order to bring common benefits to the people of the two countries, for the development of each country.

The King emphasized that the good relationship between Vietnam and Thailand will make an important contribution to peace, stability and common development in the region.

Leaders of the two countries agreed to continue to strengthen political trust through maintaining high-level and multi-level visits and contacts, promoting the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, and effectively coordinating the implementation of the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Within the framework of the visit, the King of Thailand and the Queen visited and attended the peace prayer ceremony at Quan Su Pagoda; visited the Thai Language and Culture Center and met with lecturers and students at Hanoi University.

The visit, along with the foundation of 50 years of diplomatic relations, contributes to bringing Vietnam-Thailand relations into a new, more open phase, contributing to peace and cooperation in the region.
