On June 23, in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in coordination with the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, the Central Theoretical Council and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology organized a scientific conference with the theme "Quantum Technology in the New Era - International Trends, Opportunities and Requirements for Vietnam".
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan - Member of the Politburo, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - stated clearly: Resolution 57 of the Politburo has established breakthrough requirements in thinking, institutions, human resources, infrastructure and implementation methods, and at the same time proactively identified research to prepare for new technology trends with profound impacts in the coming time.
In that spirit, research on quantum technology is a new development direction, creating a breakthrough in technology that deeply changes perceptions and transforms the world, which needs to be identified early and given due attention.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan emphasized that this is a new field, specialized and developing rapidly, with many unknowns, with great strategic room for research, both at the basic research level and applied research, both research in terms of technology and research in terms of technology management to truly serve the goal of serving people; strengthening strategic autonomy for national and ethnic interests. Therefore, early identification of trends, objective assessment, opportunities and challenges and preparing necessary conditions for the future is what must be done from today.
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Duong - Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Department, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, gave a presentation on the topic "Quantum Technology in the New Era - Vision and International Experience".
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Duong said that in recent years, governments of countries as well as corporations of countries have paid much attention to quantum technology. Especially in 2025, investment and investment commitments have been witnessed up to 50 billion USD. And this investment is spread throughout North America, Europe, Asia and world powers are participating.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology - emphasized some contents that need to be continued after the conference.
First, continue to improve the approach of quantum technology as a strategic technology ecosystem, not narrowing down to quantum computers but not expanding too much to spread out human resources.
Two is to focus on human resource training, human resource training must be divided into different training levels, from experts to practical engineers.
Three is to choose some priority directions to suit Vietnam's conditions.
In the immediate future, there are code, quantum boxes and data security, photometric sensors and measurement, materials, components, simulation, algorithms, AI software for science and interdisciplinary human resource training.
We need to study and design a coordination mechanism and deploy it in the direction of having a focal point, having a common infrastructure, testing platforms, using agencies, participating businesses and having evaluation criteria for each stage" - Mr. Tran Hong Thai said.
