To commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of comrade Ly Tu Trong - the first communist youth union member (October 20, 1914 - October 20, 2024), the Central Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union issued a plan to organize a traditional activity to celebrate the 110th anniversary of comrade Ly Tu Trong's birth.
Accordingly, since March this year, the Central Youth Union has organized a traditional activity with the theme "Forever the revolutionary path of youth", aiming to widely propagate to union members and youth nationwide about the life, heroic sacrifice and revolutionary spirit and ideals of comrade Ly Tu Trong; especially the value and meaning of the saying "The path of youth is only the revolutionary path, there can be no other path" for Vietnamese youth, the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement.
At the same time, promote propaganda activities about young heroes, union members, and exemplary youths through the ages, thereby continuing to foster and strengthen the spirit of patriotism, self-respect, and national pride of the young generation of Vietnam in building and defending the Fatherland.
During the culmination of the 110th anniversary of comrade Ly Tu Trong's birth in October this year, it is expected that agencies will organize an exhibition about the life, contributions and heroic sacrifices of comrade Ly Tu Trong for the cause of national liberation from October 18-20, 2024.
The Central Youth Union in coordination with Ha Tinh province will organize a scientific workshop "Ly Tu Trong Spirit - Aspiration of Youth" at Ly Tu Trong Memorial on October 20, 2024.
Many activities of gratitude, remembering the source of water, and social security were also carried out in Ha Tinh on this occasion, such as: Building the national flagpole and the Union flag at Ly Tu Trong Memorial Site; Donating maps in response to the campaign "Proud of a strip of mountains and rivers"; Donating the traditional educational project of the Union - "Forever your name shines" at Ly Tu Trong Memorial Site; Donating charity houses and red scarf houses to children and people in difficult circumstances; Donating the project "Lighting up the countryside"; Visiting and giving gifts to relatives of Ly Tu Trong.
Comrade Ly Tu Trong's real name is Le Huu Trong, born on October 20, 1914, originally from Viet Xuyen commune, now Viet Tien commune, Thach Ha district.
In 1929, comrade Ly Tu Trong returned to Saigon - Gia Dinh with the task of being a secret liaison at home and abroad for the Southern Regional Party Committee and the Central Party Committee, and was assigned the task of mobilizing and gathering young people in factories and schools to establish the Communist Youth Union.
On February 8, 1931, Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers organized a lightning rally but were caught by French colonial secret police.
Comrade Ly Tu Trong was imprisoned and brutally tortured, but he did not submit. On November 21, 1931, comrade Ly Tu Trong was beheaded by the enemy, at that time he was only 17 years old.
Before the court of the colonial empire, he boldly declared: "The path of youth is only the revolutionary path, there can be no other path...".
That saying later became a guiding principle for generations of Vietnamese revolutionary youth.
