On the afternoon of November 17, at the 51st session, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave its opinion on the investment policy for the National Target Program on modernization and improvement of the quality of Education and Training (GDDT) for the period 2026 - 2035.
Presenting the Government's proposal, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the total resources mobilized to implement the National Target Program on modernization and improving the quality of education and training for the period 2026 - 2035 are expected to be more than 580,000 billion VND.
The program aims to comprehensively standardize and modernize the education and training system.

At the same time, it sets a goal of expanding learning opportunities for all people, ensuring fairness in access to education, the right to lifelong learning; increasingly better meeting the human resource needs, especially high-quality human resources, for the rapid and sustainable development of the country...
Giving his opinion at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh said that the resolutions all stated that human training is comprehensive development, teaching with letters and vocational skills. However, reality shows that many students today still lack life skills.
The Vice Chairman shared that when he went to school, cleaning workers at school had to take brooms at home and work on duty; but now, even in the countryside, they are renting companies.
Or like some cases, parents think it is good for their children without letting them do anything.
This leader emphasized the importance of life skills. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his grief that every summer vacation there are cases of drowning.
"Every child who goes to school must know how to swim to save their own life first, then if they are good at swimming, they will save the flood victims" - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said.

Citing the wish of General Secretary To Lam when he once said "a high school student should know how to play at least one musical instrument", Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh said that primary and secondary school students must also know how to play at least one sport to both have skills and exercise their health.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Nguyen Thanh Hai mentioned two aspects related to current students. First is ethics, second is knowledge.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, knowledge is trained very fully, but ethics need to be further considered.
This leader raised the issue, over 90% of students today are assessed as having good academic performance and good conduct, but is that the case?
The Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment mentioned the recent incident of students assaulting a teacher, "no one can think".
"We can review the behavior of this student in the previous semester and the previous school year, and see if it is ever classified as good" - Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment stated.
Therefore, according to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, it is necessary to develop a clear standard, norms, and standards to evaluate teachers and students.
Those who are good students are evaluated as good, those who are not good students must be evaluated as good, even average.
From the above analysis, the Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment hopes that with huge investment resources this time, a generation of students will be trained "both rosy and specialized". Good at studying but also need to know how to love parents, know life skills, and truly "good children, good students".
