The Ministry of Home Affairs has just announced the situation of labor accidents in 2024. This notice is attached to the Report on occupational health activities and disease prevention in 2024 of the Department of Disease Prevention (Ministry of Health).

In the report, the Department of Prevention and Control clearly stated the work of specialized inspection, supervision and examination.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health has organized post-inspections for 20 units to announce the eligibility for labor environment monitoring; accordingly, withdrew the announcement of 3 units and proposed to rectify 17 units.

This Ministry issued Plan No. 441/KH-BYT dated April 10, 2024 and Decision No. 915/QD-BYT dated April 11, 2024 on inspection of waste management within the premises of medical facilities and occupational safety and hygiene (OSH) and health care, occupational disease prevention for health workers in 2024 at 10 hospitals under the Ministry.

Coordinate with the Vietnam Health Trade Union to inspect the work of ensuring occupational safety and health for health workers at 5 units under the Ministry and 4 Departments of Health, Provincial/City General Hospital.

Notably, according to the report on the results of organizing activities in response to the Labor Safety and Hygiene Month of localities, there were 5,077 interdisciplinary inspections and examinations of labor safety and hygiene at 2,869 enterprises;

401 enterprises have been discovered to have violations in occupational safety and health, health care, and disease prevention for employees.

The provinces, cities, and enterprises self-inspected 1,341 cases and received 729 risk factors and have developed and supplemented 1,657 regulations and safe working procedures; organized 558 visits to the families of victims, victims, and people with occupational diseases.

At the press conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Prevention and Control (Ministry of Health) Le Thai Ha said that in the coming time, the Department of Prevention and Control will strengthen inspection of the implementation of the law on occupational safety and health;

Strengthen surprise inspection of the implementation of occupational safety and health policies and regimes for employers and employees; equip means to prevent, deal with, and respond to occupational accidents and accidents; resolutely handle violations.

According to reports from 62/63 provinces and centrally run cities, in 2024, there were 8,286 work-related accidents nationwide, causing 8,472 victims; The number of deaths due to work-related accidents was 675; The number of deaths due to work-related accidents was 727 people.

The above figures were recorded in both areas with labor relations and areas where workers work without labor contracts.
