According to the report of the People's Committee of Son La province, in recent times, due to the impact of storm No. 3 circulation and floods in late July and early August, flooding, flash floods and landslides have occurred in the province.
Floods and rains have left 6 people dead, missing and 4 injured. The whole province had 1,183 damaged houses, 12 suspension bridges were washed away, many inter-commune, inter-village and inner-city roads were eroded, causing traffic congestion.
More than 50 irrigation works and over 400 hectares of crops were affected... Total damage was over 688 billion VND.
Flash floods, inundation, and landslides occurred in 12 communes along the Ma River. Many villages were isolated (12 villages in Muong Lam and Bo Sinh).
In localities with human losses, the authorities have promptly organized visits, encouraged and provided support according to regulations for families with people who died or went missing due to the impact of floods.
At the same time, mobilizing forces to focus on searching for missing people, contributing to helping families soon stabilize their psychology and overcome initial difficulties.
The province has organized evacuation and arranged temporary safe accommodation for people who have lost their homes or whose houses are in landslide areas or are at high risk of landslides.
For households whose houses were completely washed away and located in dangerous areas, the People's Committees of communes have arranged temporary accommodation for households in schools, village cultural houses, relatives' houses and households in the inner city.
The Military Region 2 Command deployed a helicopter to support the rescue of 8 people in Anh Trung village, Muong Hung commune. The provincial police rescued 6 people isolated in Quyet Thang village, Chieng Khuong commune.
Visiting and encouraging households affected by floods in Chieng So commune, Son La province, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long sent his condolences to the families of those who died or went missing due to floods.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long also shared the loss of life and property to the people, hoping that the people would overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested local authorities to continue to focus on mobilizing forces to support people to overcome the damage caused by floods and soon restore socio-economic activities. Arrange temporary accommodation, food, and necessities for households that have lost their homes, not leaving people hungry or homeless.
Mobilize forces, materials, and means to quickly repair infrastructure works damaged by natural disasters, especially works to ensure traffic, electricity, water, telecommunications, healthcare, and education.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long also noted the implementation of measures to ensure people's safety against the risk of landslides in the area.
On this occasion, the working delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long presented 50 meaningful gifts from the Government to households affected by natural disasters in Chieng So commune.
In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.
