This morning (September 17), in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh Institute and Party leaders organized the scientific workshop "Bui Bang Doan - A passionate patriotic intellectual, a talented leader of the State", commemorating the 135th birthday of Mr. Bui Bang Doan (1889-2024) - former Head of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), a passionate patriotic intellectual, a close and intimate associate of President Ho Chi Minh, an outstanding son of the Vietnamese people and the capital Hanoi.
At the conference, Professor Dr. Le Van Loi - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - stated that Mr. Bui Bang Doan was born into a family with a tradition of mandarin education in Lien Bat village, Ung Hoa district, Ha Dong province, now part of Hanoi city.
"Throughout his life, Mr. Bui Bang Doan set a shining example of ardent patriotism, pure morality, and with his talent and virtue, devoted himself to the revolution, recognized and honored by national history. He was an outstanding son of the nation, a great cultural personality, a great example for generations of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life, especially the young generation, to learn from and follow," affirmed Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi.
Also at the workshop, delegates and scientists focused on discussing and clarifying the life, career and great contributions of Mr. Bui Bang Doan to the Vietnamese revolution, on the following main aspects: Mr. Bui Bang Doan - from an upright and talented mandarin, became a leader with many great contributions to the revolutionary government; a talented key leader of the National Assembly; a shining moral example of an enthusiastic patriotic intellectual, a close and intimate collaborator of President Ho Chi Minh, an outstanding son of the Vietnamese people.
Delegates and scientists affirmed that, regardless of his position, whether as a high-ranking mandarin or a high-ranking leader of the National Assembly and Government, Mr. Bui Bang Doan always radiated the spirit of thrift, integrity, impartiality, and devoted all his talent, intelligence and strength to serving the Fatherland and the people.
Since he was an official of the old government, he was famous for his "integrity". He had a notice posted in the court saying "no gifts accepted" and strictly forbade his family members from accepting gifts, otherwise they would be severely punished. That clearly demonstrated the spirit of integrity and impartiality of a true Confucian scholar.
He always promoted the spirit of being close to the people, and felt sorry for the people's hunger and misery. When he was the District Chief of Xuan Truong District, Nam Dinh, he organized the construction of Bach Long dike to prevent salt water, creating a large rice-growing area, helping the people's lives to prosper.
From the perspective of the Party's current revolutionary ethical standards, Mr. Bui Bang Doan is truly an example of practicing revolutionary ethics, especially promoting the responsibility of setting an example, daring to think and act for the common good.
