On January 14, the National Assembly's Law Committee held an explanation session on "Implementation of administrative procedures in the customs sector".

Chairman of the Law Committee Hoang Thanh Tung said that after 10 years of implementation, the Customs Law has come into effect, contributing positively to the implementation of administrative reform and administrative procedure reform in general, and administrative procedure reform in the customs sector in particular.

However, through monitoring, supervision and feedback from voters, it is shown that the implementation of the 2014 Customs Law and its detailed implementing documents also revealed a number of limitations and shortcomings that need to be overcome; in particular, the implementation of administrative procedures in the customs sector also has a number of difficulties and shortcomings.

The Chairman of the Law Committee emphasized that the explanation session is to have more information and practical basis to serve the research and recommendations for perfecting the law in the customs field in general and administrative procedures in the customs field in particular.

At the explanation session, delegates said that, besides the achieved results, the implementation of administrative procedures in the customs sector still has shortcomings and limitations that need to be overcome, especially in specialized inspection work.

Along with that, the implementation of the Party and State's policy on restructuring, streamlining the apparatus, and national digital transformation also requires early research to propose amendments and supplements to the provisions of the Customs Law accordingly.

Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi and leaders of relevant ministries, branches and agencies provided information and specific explanations on state management responsibilities, and proposed solutions to remove difficulties and shortcomings in implementing customs administrative procedures.

Chairman of the Law Committee Hoang Thanh Tung stated that after the explanation session, to overcome shortcomings and limitations and improve the effectiveness of administrative procedures in the customs sector, the Law Committee will fully synthesize opinions, report to the National Assembly Standing Committee, and send them to the Government and ministries and branches.

At the same time, Chairman of the Law Committee Hoang Thanh Tung also suggested that the Government and the Prime Minister continue to direct the Ministry of Finance and relevant ministries and branches to study and propose amendments to the 2014 Customs Law to serve the work of streamlining and streamlining the apparatus, while overcoming shortcomings and limitations.
