At the invitation of World Health Organization (WHO) General Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 20 sent a message to the 78th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, VNA reported on the evening of May 21.
In the message, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in the process of developing and building the country, Vietnam always puts people at the center, as the subject and driving force for development, while focusing on caring for, protecting health and developing people.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that issues related to health and humanity are comprehensive, global, and all-people, so it is necessary to promote multilateralism, international cooperation and solidarity. The international community needs to join hands, join hands, and be unanimous to solve common challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, responding to climate change, population aging, resource depletion, etc.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on developed countries to increase stronger and more effective support for developing countries in science, technology, resources, and capital, especially helping to produce medicine and vaccines to prevent epidemics, strengthen consultation on institution building, human resource training, capacity building, and implement policies to protect and care for people's health.
Emphasizing strong support for WHO and the World Health Assembly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is ready to make active contributions, share experiences, knowledge and achievements with the world community. Vietnam is committed to investing in people, protecting and caring for human health, contributing to countries around the world in building a healthy world and people in all countries are healthy, ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of people.
The World Health Assembly is the highest decision-making body of the WHO. The 78th session of this year has the theme "A World for Health", held from May 19 to 27, focusing on the termination of global agreement negotiations on pandemic prevention, and discussing priority contents such as promoting coverage of public health care, strengthening the health system, fighting resistance and addressing non-communicable diseases.
