Prime Minister suggests Qualcomm invest in core technologies in Vietnam

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Qualcomm continue to expand its in-depth investment in Vietnam, especially in core technologies.

On the afternoon of August 12, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Cristiano Amon - Chairman and CEO of Qualcomm Group (USA) and the group's working delegation to visit and work in Vietnam.

At the meeting, reporting to the Prime Minister on the Group's operations in Vietnam, the Chairman of Qualcomm expressed his hope for a bright future of development and great cooperation opportunities in Vietnam; believing that cooperation with Vietnam will continue to be a great success.

Sharing about the group's activities and proposing cooperation plans in the Vietnamese market to develop strategic technology industries, innovation such as AI, semiconductors, IoT equipment manufacturing, electronics, smartphones; thereby, contributing to building a highly competitive Vietnamese economy, Qualcomm Chairman believes that Vietnam will become a regional center for research and development, especially in AI.

Mr. Cristiano Amon affirmed that Qualcomm is ready to strengthen cooperation, support capacity building, and train human resources for Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated Qualcomm for more than 20 years of accompanying the development of the telecommunications and technology industry in Vietnam, in key areas such as mobile connectivity, technology transfer, AI research, STEM training, startup support, promoting the innovation ecosystem, especially the establishment of the AI Research and Development Center in Hanoi.

To continue promoting stronger, more practical and more effective cooperation between Vietnam and Qualcomm in the coming time, the Prime Minister suggested that the group continue to expand its investment in depth in Vietnam, especially in core technologies, phases with higher added value of the semiconductor value chain; cooperate with Vietnam's enterprises, research institutes, universities, and national innovation centers to develop an innovative startup ecosystem; support Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the supply and production chain of Qualcomm and its partners; support and share with Vietnam about governance experience, human resource training, and institutional improvement.

The Prime Minister believes that with Qualcomm's experience in cooperation with Vietnam in recent times, the two sides will reap more success. The Vietnamese Government is committed to creating a favorable business environment for investors to operate profitably and effectively; in the spirit of working together, winning together, sharing joy and happiness together; harmonious benefits, sharing risks.

Qualcomm is the world's leading corporation in radio technology, advanced mobile information 5G with a capitalization of about 160 billion USD, expanding its operations to the field of edge artificial intelligence (EDge AI).
