Prime Minister requests UNESCO to continue supporting Vietnam's heritage records

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with UNESCO Director General Andrey Azoulay on the occasion of attending the United Nations Ocean Conference in France.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on June 9, 2025, on the occasion of attending the 3rd United Nations Summit on the Ocean (UNOC 3) in Nice (France), Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with UNESCO Director General Andrey Azoulay.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting the General Director again; affirmed that Vietnam always highly appreciates UNESCO's role and contributions in maintaining peace, security and promoting sustainable development in the world through promoting multilateral cooperation in education, culture, science, information and communication.

The Prime Minister congratulated the General Director for the achievements that UNESCO has achieved in recent times; thanked UNESCO for its support and cooperation for Vietnam over the past 50 years as well as the good development steps in the "comprehensive, substantive and effective" partnership between Vietnam and UNESCO.

UNESCO Director General Andrey Azoulay highly appreciated Vietnam's role as a member of the World Heritage Committee; affirmed that with its increasingly high role and position, Vietnam's voice towards UNESCO is very important; hoping that Vietnam will continue to contribute to UNESCO.

The General Director expressed her desire to visit Vietnam again. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited the UNESCO Director General to soon visit Vietnam at an appropriate time and hoped that she would continue to support Vietnam's heritage records.
