According to VNA, during the official visit to the Republic of Algeria, on the evening of November 18, local time, right after arriving in Algeria, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation had a friendly meeting with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Algeria.
According to the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria, the Vietnamese community in Algeria currently has about 2,000 people, divided into 2 groups: cadres, staff and engineers, workers with about 500 people; and about 1,500 people of Vietnamese origin or part of Vietnamese blood.
The Vietnamese community in Algeria is always united, conscious of preserving national cultural identity, working hard and complying with local laws. People are always proud of their development achievements and the country's position; always looking forward to their homeland and country.
At the meeting, affirming their readiness to strive to foster the Vietnam - Algeria relationship, as well as socio-economic development, national and ethnic development, and the people proposed that the Prime Minister interact with the Algeria Government to allow the establishment of the Association of Vietnamese in Algeria; organize more Vietnamese cultural activities in Algeria; have preferential policies for overseas Vietnamese in disadvantaged areas so that people have the opportunity to return and participate in domestic activities...
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that although Vietnam and Algeria are geographically far apart, they have had a long-standing relationship, especially in the process of fighting together to gain and protect the independence of each country.
Over the past 60 years, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria has been continuously promoted, consolidated and developed well in many fields. The Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnamese community in Algeria will maintain, nurture and foster the good relationship between Vietnam and Algeria to flower and bear fruit, forever green and sustainable.
The Prime Minister said that there is still a lot of room for Vietnam - Algeria economic relations. During this visit, the Prime Minister and Algeria's leaders will discuss raising the bilateral relationship to a new level, on that basis, promoting economic relations commensurate with political relations, on that basis enhancing business connections, people-to-people connections, cultural exchanges, etc.
The Prime Minister said that, identifying the overseas Vietnamese community as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese people, the Party and State have issued many policies such as real estate, land, housing, citizen identification cards, visa policies, etc., creating favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to have the opportunity to return to their homeland in the most favorable way.

Also at the meeting, representatives of the Vietnam Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology awarded 5 scholarships to Vietnamese children in Algeria who return to Vietnam to study at the Academy.
