On June 18, in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan under the Russian Federation, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung led the high-level Vietnamese delegation to attend the plenary session of the ASEAN - Russia 35th Anniversary Summit.
The plenary session was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, and heads of delegations of ASEAN member countries.
Opening the meeting, President Putin welcomed delegates attending the forum and emphasized ASEAN's role in international relations.
The Russian leader affirmed that ASEAN has prestige not only in the Asia-Pacific region but also globally. ASEAN has stood firm against the challenges of time, building an inter-state cooperation system based on widely recognized international legal standards and the consideration of mutual interests.
The Russian leader announced the overall agenda, according to which, the discussion content will focus on current regional and international issues, assess the results of Russia - ASEAN cooperation in the past 35 years, the orientations, goals and future tasks of the Russia - ASEAN Strategic Partnership.
The head of Russia emphasized economic content, in cooperation it is necessary to ensure inclusiveness to all small, medium and large enterprises.
The ASEAN-Russia 35th Anniversary Summit is of great significance in promoting the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership, strengthening political commitments, renewing cooperation momentum and determining strategic directions for ASEAN-Russia relations in the coming period on all three pillars of politics - security, economy and culture - society.
