Prime Minister invites Swedish enterprises to invest in digital infrastructure in Vietnam

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that Swedish enterprises will expand their investment in Vietnam's information technology infrastructure.

On the morning of June 12, within the framework of an official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working breakfast with leaders of major Swedish economic groups in the capital Stockholm to discuss investment cooperation in many fields.

Mr. Marcus Wallenberg - Chairman of SEB Group Board of Directors, representative of Wallenberg Group - and leaders of enterprises in the system such as AstraZeneca, Ericsson... discussed with the Prime Minister about opportunities and investment plans in Vietnam in the fields of energy, finance, science, technology, telecommunications.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared his assessment of the world situation, saying that the world is changing rapidly with many global challenges such as climate change, non-traditional security, cybersecurity, etc. However, the trend of peace, cooperation and development is still dominant, requiring countries to unite, promote internal resources and promote sustainable development.

Regarding development and foreign policy, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is steadfast in its policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification; is a friend of all countries; is a trusted partner of the international community; proactively integrates; implements the "4 no's" defense policy. Thanks to that, Vietnam has become a strategic and comprehensive partner with many major countries.

Regarding the selection of digital infrastructure partners, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam prioritizes cooperation with partners with high technology qualifications, traditional relationships, high reliability such as Ericsson; hopes that Ericsson and Swedish enterprises will expand their investment in information technology infrastructure in Vietnam, especially in remote areas.

In response to Swedish businesses' concerns about administrative procedures, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam is synchronously implementing major strategies, reforming the apparatus, cutting at least 30% of investment and business conditions, time and costs of administrative procedures. Vietnam has also established a One-stop Investment Portal and a National Law Portal to carry out online procedures.

Regarding energy investment opportunities, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam has issued the Power Plan VIII and related policies, creating conditions for the development of clean electricity, the Privatization of the electricity industry, and connecting to the ASEAN power grid. Swedish enterprises have many investment opportunities in this field.

Regarding the field of robot and semiconductor chip manufacturing, the Prime Minister said that this is a Vietnamese industry that is focusing on development, calling on Swedish enterprises to invest, transfer technology, and train human resources.

The Prime Minister further informed that Vietnam has issued resolutions on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation; at the same time, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of investors, property rights, and freedom of business.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam - Sweden have good relations, this visit aims to promote substantive and effective cooperation, especially in areas where Sweden has strengths and Vietnam has needs.

In the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always accompanies, listens, and supports businesses to successfully and sustainably invest in Vietnam.
