The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on June 9, 2025, on the occasion of attending the 3rd United Nations Summit on the Ocean (UNOC 3) in Nice (France), Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Prime Minister Tuvalu Feleti Penitala Teo.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Tuvalu Feleti Penitala Teo for the first time; affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening the cooperative friendship with Tuvalu; hopes that the two countries will soon officially establish diplomatic relations.
The Prime Minister also suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges and high-level contacts; form and implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms to take advantage of the cooperation potential between the two countries.
Prime Minister Tuvalu Feleti Penitala Teo agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals; shared the difficulties that Brazil is facing, including responding to climate change and rising sea levels, and expressed Vietnam's desire to strengthen cooperation with Brazil in this field.
The two leaders also discussed measures to strengthen consultation, coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and on international and regional issues of mutual concern, including enhancing cooperation between ASEAN and Pacific island countries and supporting the positions of Vietnam and ASEAN on the East Sea issue.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Prime Minister department to visit Vietnam soon at an appropriate time; Prime Minister department happily accepted the invitation.
