On September 21, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Vietnam Ri Sung Guk to pay his respects on the occasion of starting his term in Vietnam, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Ambassador Ri Sung Guk on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the DPRK to Vietnam; highly appreciated the DPRK for sending a comrade with extensive experience in foreign affairs to be Ambassador to Vietnam, thereby showing the importance of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the DPRK.
The Prime Minister affirmed that relevant Vietnamese agencies will closely cooperate to support the Ambassador in fulfilling his assigned tasks; he believes that with his rich experience, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk will actively contribute to maintaining and promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries to develop further in the coming time.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which was personally built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, and has been continuously preserved, inherited and promoted by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
In that spirit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that during his term, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies to promote the following goals: (i) continue to enhance political trust and mutual understanding through the exchange of delegations at all levels and between ministries, departments and branches of the two countries; coordinate the implementation of meaningful activities on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025; (ii) promote economic cooperation between the two countries on the basis of compliance with international law and in accordance with the interests of the two countries; soon resume the mechanism of the Vietnam - North Korea Intergovernmental Committee on economic, scientific and technological cooperation chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the DPRK; (iii) actively expand exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, sports and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Ambassador Ri Sung Guk expressed his pleasure to pay a visit to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; said he was deeply impressed by Vietnam's important achievements in many fields in recent years, especially in economic and social development and growth recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic; as well as the expansion of foreign relations with many countries around the world, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena; believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party, Vietnam will successfully achieve the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045.
Ambassador Ri Sung Guk affirmed that continuing to promote the development of bilateral relations is the consistent stance of the Party and State of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; affirmed that during his term in Vietnam, he will make every effort to contribute to promoting the development of the traditional friendship between the two countries of North Korea and Vietnam in the coming time.
