The Prime Minister has just signed and issued Decision No. 2748/QD-TTg dated December 18, 2025 to establish the Government Steering Committee on macroeconomic management and operation (Steering Committee).
According to the decision, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is the Head of the Steering Committee.
The two Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee are Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc (Standing Deputy Head of the Committee) and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang.
The members of the Steering Committee include: Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang; Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh; Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung; Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh; Minister and Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son.
The Government Steering Committee on Management and Operation of the Macroeconomy is an inter-sectoral coordination organization, with the function of assisting the Government and the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the resolution of important, inter-sectoral issues in the management and operation of the macro economy nationwide.
The Steering Committee is responsible for assisting the Government and the Prime Minister in researching, advising, recommending, and proposing directions and solutions to solve important, inter-sectoral problems in managing and operating the macro economy.
At the same time, it helps the Government and the Prime Minister direct, coordinate and urge ministries, branches, localities, agencies and organizations related to solve important, inter-sectoral problems in managing and operating the macro economy.
The Ministry of Finance acts as the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee; submits to the Head of the Steering Committee for approval of the Regulations on the organization and operation of the Steering Committee; ensures the necessary conditions for the operation of the Steering Committee, uses its apparatus and personnel to perform the tasks of the Steering Committee according to the direction of the Head of the Steering Committee, ensuring that the number of organizational units and staffing does not increase.
The Minister of Finance decides to establish a Macroeconomic Coordination Team to assist the Steering Committee with the Minister of Finance as the Head of the Team; the Deputy Minister of Finance as the Deputy Head of the Team; leaders of units under ministries and agencies in the Steering Committee as members of the Macroeconomic Coordination Team.
