Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 136/CD-TTg dated December 19, 2024 regarding the case of arson causing a fire at a coffee shop in Co Nhue 2 Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi City.
The dispatch stated: At around 11:00 p.m. on December 18, 2024, a fire broke out at a coffee shop in Co Nhue 2 Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi, causing extremely serious consequences, injuring and killing many people.
On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his condolences to the relatives and families of the victims and gave the following instructions:
The Minister of Public Security directed the functional forces to coordinate with the Hanoi People's Committee to focus on overcoming the consequences; urgently investigate the case, and strictly handle violators according to the provisions of the law for deterrence and prevention.
The police of units and localities continue to seriously and effectively implement the Party and State's directives in ensuring security, order, preventing and combating crimes and law violations, focusing on Conclusion No. 13-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 48-CT/TW of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership in crime prevention and combat in the new situation.
Step up the attack and suppression of all types of crimes, eradicate social evils; strengthen propaganda, education, and crime prevention, especially crimes arising from conflicts and crimes that disturb public order during the upcoming Tet holiday.
The Hanoi People's Committee directed to organize thoughtful visits, timely encouragement, material and spiritual support, create the best conditions to help the victims' families, and treat the injured victims in the fire.
The Ministry of Health directed medical facilities to create the best conditions to treat people injured in the fire.
The Minister of Public Security and Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities continue to strictly implement the Prime Minister's instructions on fire prevention and fighting, especially Directive No. 01/CT-TTg on strengthening fire prevention and fighting in the new situation, Directive No. 19/CT-TTg on strengthening fire prevention and fighting in multi-storey houses, multi-apartment houses, and individual houses combined with production and business.
Strengthen propaganda, guidance and rectification of compliance with regulations on fire prevention and fighting safety at constructions, facilities and crowded places during the upcoming holidays and Tet.
Regarding the fire that killed 11 people at a coffee shop at 258 Pham Van Dong Street, early in the morning of December 19, Hanoi City Police said that the City Police Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute the case of "Murder", prosecute the accused C.V.H (born in 1973; currently residing in Dai Mach Commune, Dong Anh District, Hanoi) to investigate and handle the act of burning down a coffee shop that killed many people in Bac Tu Liem District (Hanoi).
Initial investigation determined that this subject had two previous convictions for "Robbery" and "Theft of property".
At the police station, C.V.H initially confessed that H went to the above shop to drink beer and then had a conflict with the shop staff. Afterwards, H went to buy gasoline and poured it on the first floor of the coffee shop (where there were many motorbikes) and then set it on fire. When he saw the fire, H left.
Deputy Prime Minister inspects scene, visits victims of coffee shop fire
On the morning of December 19, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long inspected the scene, directed the work of overcoming the consequences of the fire and visited the victims.
At the scene of the fire, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the request to implement the Prime Minister's telegram regarding the case of arson causing a fire at a coffee shop in Co Nhue 2 ward.
Authorities focus on overcoming the consequences; promptly investigate the case, strictly handle violators according to the law to deter and prevent.
The Deputy Prime Minister visited E Hospital to visit the victims. Here, the Deputy Prime Minister shared the loss and pain and sent his condolences to the relatives and families of the victims.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that all priority be given to treating the injured; timely encouragement and support in terms of material and spiritual matters for the victims' families; and the early stabilization of the situation and ensuring the people's lives.
