Promoting the opening of a direct flight between Vietnam and Brazil

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the leaders of Embraer Group on the morning of July 6 (local time), in Rio de Janeiro city, Brazil.

The Government newspaper reported that at the meeting, Mr. Jose Serrador Neto, Vice President of the Group's global operations, said that Embraer is a multi-industry corporation, operating mainly in the aviation and aerospace industries sector, owned by the Brazilian Government at 51%.

Brazilian aviation group Embraer is the world's third largest commercial aircraft manufacturer, with more than 8,000 aircraft produced by Embraer. Revenue in 2024 will reach more than 6.4 billion USD.

In Vietnam, Embraer has provided aircraft to Bamboo Airways; currently continuing to negotiate with partners such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet to expand cooperation.

Speaking at the recent talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the two sides agreed to strengthen aviation cooperation, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and appreciated the Group's new generation of commercial aircraft products as a solution to help Vietnamese airlines develop a sustainable fleet, improve operational efficiency and ensure flight safety.

The Prime Minister said that Vietnam has many advantages to develop the aviation sector and is strongly developing this type of transportation; suggested that the Group study and continue to discuss with Vietnamese partners such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Viettel... to move towards specific cooperation activities, bringing practical benefits to both sides.

In particular, promoting the opening of the Vietnam - Brazil direct flight route, developing the aerospace ecosystem in Vietnam, researching, transferring technology, forming an aircraft maintenance center, human resource training center in Vietnam to serve the Group's network of partners and customers in the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific regions; at the same time helping businesses penetrate deeply into the South American market.

Agreeing with the Prime Minister's opinion, Mr. Jose Serrador Neto and his colleagues at Embraer Group suggested that the Prime Minister direct and create conditions for Embraer to cooperate long-term with Vietnamese partners; said Embraer will actively contribute to the negotiation process, signing the Free Trade Agreement, the agreement on investment incentives and protection between Vietnam and Brazil and the Vietnam Free Trade Agreement - MERCOSUR as proposed by the Prime Minister.
