The progress of the surprise inspection on the management and business of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment has just been reported by Department X to the leaders of the Government Inspectorate.

On September 17, information from the Government Inspectorate said that Deputy Inspector General Pham Thanh Ngai had a working session with the Department of Inspection, Settlement of Complaints and Denunciations in the health sector (Department X) on the organizational situation, results of task implementation in the first 9 months of the year and tasks for the last months of 2026.

Reporting at the working session, Director of Department X Nguyen Tuan Anh said that in the first 9 months of the year, the Department conducted 2 transitional inspections. In which, the inspection of responsibility in implementing the autonomy mechanism at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology was concluded by the Government Inspector General.

Regarding the inspection of responsibility in implementing the autonomy mechanism at Vietnam National University, Hanoi in the period 2021 - 2024, the Department is finalizing a draft conclusion to submit to competent authorities.

In 2026, the Department is assigned to chair 2 inspections according to the plan. The Department has completed the inspection related to the management and handling of redundant houses and land at the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health under unscheduled directions; The Government Inspectorate has issued conclusions.

Notably, the leader of Department X said that the surprise inspection on the management and business of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment is being completed by the inspection team with a report of results and a draft conclusion.

Previously, on June 9, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Nguyen Van Cuong chaired a meeting to announce the inspection decision on the management and business of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

According to the decision, the subjects of inspection are the Ministry of Health and a number of relevant agencies, units, organizations, and businesses.

This is an inspection that has received great attention. Leaders of the Government Inspectorate at the decision announcement ceremony emphasized that pharmaceuticals and medical equipment are areas of particular importance, directly related to the work of caring for, protecting and improving people's health.

Over the past time, state management of the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sector has had many positive changes, and the legal system has been gradually improved. However, practice shows that the capacity to produce and supply drugs, supplies and medical equipment is still limited, heavily dependent on import sources; posing potential risks of violations in the stages of licensing management, bidding, procurement, pricing, circulation and business.

These shortcomings not only affect the effectiveness of state management but also directly affect the quality of medical examination and treatment and the rights of people.
