On the afternoon of May 11, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Mr. Nagasaki Kotaro, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, who is on a visit and working trip to Vietnam.
At the reception, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed his support for Yamanashi Prefecture to continue to pay attention to promoting substantive and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnamese localities, including localities with which Yamanashi Prefecture has had relations such as Quang Tri (former Quang Binh), Lao Cai province (former Yen Bai) and Tay Ninh province.
Highly appreciating Japan's commitment to support Vietnam in effectively implementing the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice, contributing to strengthening cooperation to ensure food security in each country, the Prime Minister wished Yamanashi Prefecture to continue to strengthen agricultural cooperation, promote technology transfer, cooperation in training high-quality human resources; as well as promote Japan to soon complete internal procedures and announce the opening of the market for Japanese grapes and Vietnamese grapefruit, further opening up the agricultural product market between the two countries.
Along with that, Yamanashi prefecture is working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnamese businesses to strengthen cooperation in the fields of green energy and hydrogen; continue to pay attention to and encourage businesses in the prefecture to expand investment in Vietnam in their strengths.
The Prime Minister said that the two sides need to promote cooperation in training and receiving high-quality human resources suitable to the needs of businesses in Yamanashi prefecture and Vietnam, especially in the fields of science and technology, high-tech agriculture, and technical services.
The Prime Minister respectfully thanked and requested Nagasaki Governor to continue to pay attention, create favorable conditions and continue to have many practical support policies such as insurance regimes, labor regimes for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the province, promoting the important bridge role between localities of the two countries and contributing to promoting bilateral relations.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister invited a delegation of leaders and businesses of Yamanashi prefecture to participate in the 2nd Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum in Hue city in the third quarter of 2026.
Expressing his pleasure to visit Vietnam, Governor Nagasaki affirmed that the province highly values relations with Vietnam in general and localities in particular, and has so far established cooperative relations with 3 provinces of Vietnam.
According to Mr. Nagasaki Kotaro, Yamanashi prefecture is continuing to promote the expansion of cooperation with Vietnam in many fields, especially wishing to promote cooperation and contribute to the further development of Vietnam's fruit industry; as well as cooperation in the field of renewable energy, green hydrogen, the prefecture is ready to share experiences, knowledge and promote business exchanges, and exchange delegations to learn from experience.
Stating that Yamanashi is the locality with the largest grape and peach production in Japan, Governor Nagasaki Kotaro expressed his pleasure to learn that during the recent visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, the Governments of the two countries agreed to promote the permission to import Japanese grapes into Vietnam; expressed his desire for the province's grapes to soon be present in the Vietnamese market.
In particular, the province is establishing a health insurance system for Vietnamese families with the desire that the Vietnamese community can feel secure in living and working and consider Yamanashi as their second homeland.
