On the morning of September 14, at the National News Center, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal (3rd time) and celebrate the 80th anniversary of the VNA Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).
General Secretary To Lam attended and gave a speech at the ceremony. Politburo members: President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien sent a basket of flowers and a letter of congratulations to the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that, born and raised with the growth of the country, all classes of News reporters have always been steadfast in their mettle, enthusiasm, not afraid of difficulties, hardships and sacrifices to contribute to writing the epic of the young people, the country, the glorious Party, the beloved Fatherland of Vietnam and the own of those who make News reporters.
In the context of the new situation, the General Secretary pointed out that VNA needs to constantly innovate itself to develop commensurate with the stature of the times and the development of the country, continuing to affirm its role as a strategic and reliable information agency of the Party and State; an official source of information, a main source of information that is active on the front of the press and ideology; need to closely follow and grasp the developments of the domestic situation and fluctuations in the international situation; proactively collect and synthesize information sources; comprehensively analyze, evaluate and forecast the situation accurately and promptly; provide valuable reports, even advise, propose and recommend for Party and State leaders to make appropriate decisions, not to be passive or surprised. VNA's information needs to be accurate, objective, humane and useful for the country and the people.
To perform well the task in the new development period of the country, the General Secretary emphasized that journalists in VNA need to constantly practice their steadfast political will, be loyal to revolutionary ideals, affirm their role as pioneers, excellently complete all tasks assigned by the Party and the State, widely inform Vietnam's guidelines, policies, laws and development achievements, contribute to fostering trust and consensus in society; inspire and arouse the aspiration of the whole society to contribute to the cause of national development.
Faced with the wave of digital transformation and the fierce competition of the global media space, the General Secretary noted that VNA journalists need to continue to strongly innovate the way of journalism and information transmission; pioneer in the application of modern technology, mastering digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and big data. In the work, it is necessary to always be sensitive to new things but also be very careful.
In the information world, sometimes there are mixed results of both true and false, it is necessary to always cultivate knowledge and journalism skills to have accurate professional feedback, master technology to identify, publish and handle fake information and false information as quickly as possible; at the same time, select new core issues to promptly provide to the Party and State leaders and the media system.
