On August 8, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026) and summarize the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation for the 2021-2026 term.

The 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City includes comrades: Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xuan and Huynh Thi Phuc (Deputy Head of the XV National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City); and National Assembly delegates of Ho Chi Minh City through the periods.
Speaking at the meeting, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Loi reviewed the glorious journey of 80 years on the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Van Loi was moved to recall the historic moment 80 years ago, when President Ho Chi Minh called on all people to vote, marking the first time the Vietnamese people exercised their sacred democratic rights. "The image of Uncle Ho holding the ballot high forever is a symbol of the national will and aspiration for a state of the people, by the people, for the people," Mr. Loi emphasized.
Over the past 80 years, the National Assembly of Vietnam has continuously developed, affirming its role as the highest representative body of the people. Through 6 amendments to the Constitution, the National Assembly has gradually perfected the political system, creating a solid foundation for the country's development.
Mr. Loi affirmed that the achievements of the National Assembly are built on four consistent lessons of long-term value: Ensuring the leadership of the Party; the strength of the great national unity bloc; the ideology of "people's weight", being close to the people, listening to the people's opinions; constantly innovating, creating, closely following reality to perfect the institution.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Loi: "The past 80 years of the Vietnamese National Assembly have left a brilliant mark. The Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation is proud to be an active member in that glorious journey. The achievements of the past term will be a valuable luggage for us to continue to steadfastly walk on the new journey".
Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly - emphasized the role of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City in the 2021-2026 term. The delegation has done a good job of promoting democracy, intelligence and rich experience to actively contribute to the common work of the National Assembly and the development of the city.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh said that from July 1, 2025, the three National Assembly delegations of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau will officially merge. This is a strategic decision to create a combined strength for the development of the whole region.
