On March 12, in Hanoi, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman, Chairman of the National Election Council (Council) Tran Thanh Man chaired a meeting with Sub-committees directly under the Council to assess and review the preparations for election day March 15, 2026.
Concluding the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that at this time, the preparation for the election has been deployed synchronously, closely, on schedule and in accordance with the law.
The Council has issued many resolutions, plans and guiding documents; organized national conferences to thoroughly grasp and train; established monitoring and inspection teams in many localities.
According to preliminary statistics, the whole country has nearly 79 million voters, in more than 72,000 polling stations, with a fully prepared election organization system from central to grassroots levels.
According to the National Assembly Chairwoman, from now until the election day is the decisive stage for the success of the entire election. Just a small mistake in the organization of implementation can affect the prestige of the election and the trust of voters and people.
Therefore, the National Assembly Chairwoman requested the Subcommittees of the Council to absolutely not be subjective, negligent, highly focused, and promptly handle arising situations, ensuring that the election takes place democratically, in accordance with the law, safely and is truly a festival for the whole people.
Agencies continue to focus on reviewing all preparations for election day. Subcommittees and Offices of the Council continue to closely coordinate with localities to inspect and review all stages of election work, from voter lists, candidate lists, and election documents.
The National Assembly Chairwoman requested to focus on ensuring absolute security and safety for the election. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on fighting and preventing false and distorted information in cyberspace, not allowing bad forces to take advantage of the election to cause instability.
The Subcommittees of the Council need to fully prepare plans to handle all situations that may occur on election day, the spirit is to be proactive early and from afar; not to be passive or surprised; all arising issues must be handled promptly, within their authority and in accordance with the law.
The Sub-committee on Ensuring Security, Order and Social Safety closely coordinates with functional forces to firmly grasp the local situation, proactively and promptly handle complex issues of security and order right from the grassroots level, without affecting the election.
The National Assembly Chairwoman also requested Council members from March 15 to March 22 not to be assigned to work or supervise, but to focus on monitoring and directing the timely handling of issues arising related to elections.
Clearly stating 3 key requirements from now until election day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized the need to absolutely ensure that the election takes place democratically, in accordance with the law, safely and on schedule.
Second, all arising situations must be handled right from the grassroots level, not to be passive, not to spread widely, not to affect the election day.
Third, the entire election organization system from the Central to grassroots levels must maintain a duty regime, continuously monitor and report, ensuring smooth information and timely direction in all situations.
