On December 6, the Ministry of Public Security held a conference on foreign affairs in Vietnam. Lieutenant General Pham The Tung - Deputy Minister of Public Security - chaired the conference.
Also attending the conference were leaders of the Immigration Department, representatives of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, 24 units under the Ministry of Public Security and police representatives from 63 provinces and cities across the country.
According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, although the world is facing many challenges such as the Russia-Ukraine military conflict, tensions on the Korean peninsula and other issues, Vietnam still recorded more than 14 million international visitors in the first 10 months of the year, an increase of 41% over the same period in 2023, surpassing the peak period before the pandemic in 2019.
The Party and State have issued many open policies to facilitate foreigners' entry and residence in Vietnam, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and international integration.
However, taking advantage of the open visa policy, the situation of foreigners violating the law tends to become more complicated, with activities that are not in accordance with the purpose of entry emerging... giving rise to many complicated security and order issues.
Faced with this situation, the Central Party Committee of the Public Security and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security have directed public security units to proactively forecast and advise on measures to strictly manage foreigners in Vietnam. However, there are still many limitations that need to be promptly overcome.
The conference aims to thoroughly grasp and unify the guiding viewpoints of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, emphasizing the strict implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies and Vietnamese laws.
Foreigner management must ensure national security, national interests and human security, while harmonizing openness and ensuring security and order.
The application of science and technology in foreign management, especially digital transformation, is considered the focus to create conditions for foreigners to invest, travel and implement projects in Vietnam, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and enhancing national status.
At the conference, many police units presented papers on foreign management, assessed the situation and proposed solutions to improve management efficiency.
In the coming time, under the direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, this work will continue to achieve many results, creating clear and unified changes in the entire force from the central to local levels.
