Within the framework of the official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the morning of April 10, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu met with Samdech Khuon Sudary - Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly.
At the meeting, the two leaders expressed satisfaction that Vietnam-Cambodia relations in recent years have continued to develop strongly, substantively, and effectively in all fields; believe that in the coming time, relations between the two Parties and the two countries will continue to be strengthened and strengthened for the benefit of the people of the two countries, contributing to peace and stability in the region and in the world; affirmed that the two sides will continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially regional and international parliamentary forums.
Regarding the direction of bilateral cooperation, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu proposed that the two sides continue to maintain regular high-level contacts and exchanges and bilateral cooperation mechanisms on all channels, including the annual meeting between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, between the National Assembly Chairmen of the two countries and the three countries Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam, thereby constantly consolidating reliable and close political relations.
Highly appreciating the cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Cambodia in implementing the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies and within the framework of the three countries Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam, the Standing Secretary of the Secretariat wished the National Assembly of Cambodia to continue to closely coordinate. The National Assemblies of the two countries need to continue to promote the role of the legislative bodies of the two countries; supervise and promote ministries, branches, localities, and businesses to actively and effectively implement signed treaties, agreements, and agreements; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially regional and international parliamentary forums.
The two sides agreed to promote the connection of the two economies in a comprehensive, sustainable and mutually beneficial direction; strengthen links in trade, investment, infrastructure, finance and banking and supply chains, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand cooperation, striving to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD, commensurate with the potential, strengths and level of connectivity of the two economies.
Affirming that defense and security cooperation is one of the important pillars in the relationship between the two countries, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in this field, agreed to maintain the principle of not allowing third parties to use the territory of one country against another, thereby contributing to building a border of peace, stability, cooperation and development, meeting the fundamental and long-term interests of each country.
