On April 10, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, within the framework of an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
At the meeting, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu expressed his pleasure to see that the relationship between the two Parties and the two Governments is increasingly consolidated and developed closely; affirmed that Vietnam consistently values and gives high priority to consolidating and developing traditional friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, considering this an invaluable common asset of the two nations, with strategic significance for the stability and development of each country.
The two leaders also agreed to strengthen exchanges and contacts at high and all levels, further promote cooperation between departments, ministries, branches, localities, and people-to-people exchanges. The two sides strengthen trade, investment, infrastructure, finance, banking and supply chain linkages, creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand cooperation, striving to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD, commensurate with the potential, strengths and level of linkage of the two economies.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen education and training cooperation, especially training high-quality human resources. The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination in combating crime, including cross-border crime; strive to complete border demarcation and marker planting, and jointly build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
The two sides also agreed to promote propaganda and education on traditional friendly relations, solidarity, attachment and mutual assistance between the two countries and promote people-to-people exchanges, especially strengthening the bond between young people of the two countries, thereby consolidating social foundations, fostering friendly feelings and creating consensus and sustainable support of the people of the two countries for the development of Vietnam - Cambodia relations.
The Standing Committee of the Secretariat requested the two sides to closely coordinate in preparing and organizing activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2027), thereby honoring the great historical values of traditional friendship, solidarity and mutual assistance between the two countries, and preserving the value of solidarity and attachment - a priceless asset for future generations.
On this occasion, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu requested the Cambodian side to continue to pay attention to resolving the legal status issue so that Vietnamese people in Cambodia can stabilize their lives and make positive contributions to the prosperous development of Cambodia and the relations between the two countries.
