On March 2nd, at the National Assembly Headquarters, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received the First Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Parliament Ioannis Plakiotakis to pay a courtesy visit on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam (May 2nd - May 3rd, 2026).
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man warmly welcomed the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the Greek parliamentary delegation to visit Vietnam, emphasizing that the visit is of great significance, showing the deep concern of the Greek Parliament and people for the traditional friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Appreciating the outstanding achievements of Greece in socio-economic development in the past time, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always values and wishes to further deepen the friendly and multifaceted cooperation relations with Greece.
The National Assembly Chairwoman emphasized that the two countries still have a lot of potential and room to promote cooperation in areas where the two sides have strengths and complementary needs such as marine economy, sea transport, logistics, renewable energy, digital transformation, green transformation, innovation...
In order to continue to promote friendly relations between the two countries and the two legislative bodies, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that the two sides continue to strengthen political trust and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries by promoting delegation exchanges at all levels and channels; sharing legislative, supervisory and cooperation experiences in multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP) Conference...
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that the two sides further promote the pillar of economic cooperation, especially in maritime and agricultural affairs; proposed that the Greek Parliament actively support and promote European countries to soon approve the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Ioannis Plakiotakis respectfully thanked the Chairman of the National Assembly for taking the time to receive and expressed his impression of the beautiful country of Vietnam; emphasized the heroic historical past of the two countries with common values of peace and independence that connected the two nations, and affirmed that Greece wishes to comprehensively promote cooperation between the two countries on both parliamentary and government channels, within the framework of the United Nations in its role as non-permanent member of the Security Council.
On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly conveyed his regards and invitation to visit Greece from Nikitas Kaklamanis.
Sharing the assessments of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the Greek Deputy National Assembly Chairman agreed to promote delegation exchanges between specialized committees and young parliamentarians of the two countries' National Assemblies; promote the bridging role of the Friendship Parliamentary Group; study and promote economic cooperation pillars in areas where Greece has strengths such as construction, energy, maritime...
The two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate and support each other's initiatives at multilateral and international forums, ASEAN-EU cooperation, regional and world inter-parliamentary forums; support multilateralism and uphold international law; emphasize the settlement of disputes by diplomatic and peaceful means on the basis of international law and emphasize ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation in the sea areas of the region and the world.
