Vietnam speaks out about illegal survey by Chinese ship in economic zone

Vietnamese authorities have always closely followed developments in the East Sea, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed.

At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of July 3, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang answered questions about Vietnam's views and reactions to the information that Chinese ships illegally conducted surveys in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone.

The spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: "Foreign research and survey activities in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) without Vietnam's permission violate Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction".

Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang also warned: "Vietnamese authorities always closely monitor developments in the East Sea, and at the same time deploy measures in accordance with international law and Vietnamese law, ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of Vietnam".
