Within the framework of his visit to Vietnam and co-chairing the 2nd Meeting of the Vietnam - Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Committee, on October 1, at the Government Headquarters, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez met with Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam always pays close attention to the situation in Cuba; shares the difficulties and challenges Cuba is facing; firmly believes that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the brotherly country of Cuba will continue to firmly defend the achievements of the Revolution, achieving new victories in the cause of national construction and development.
National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed that Cuba always attaches importance to the special friendship with Vietnam, considering cooperation with Vietnam to be of strategic significance in the context of the current socio-economic situation and the world situation with many challenges and difficulties for Cuba.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly expressed his gratitude for the solidarity, timely support and assistance that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have always given to Cuba, especially the support for stabilizing food supply and developing food production in Cuba.
President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his desire to continue to discuss with Vietnam the experiences and lessons learned in the development process of each country, especially the renovation process in Vietnam and the strategic development policies and guidelines that the Party and State of Vietnam are implementing.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to implement measures to support Cuba in a practical and specific manner, especially agricultural projects following the enterprise model to support food security in Cuba, as well as other important areas of energy and biotechnology.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides closely coordinate the implementation of agreements between senior leaders of the two countries in the past and agreements signed during this visit, improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two countries on Party, State, Government, National Assembly channels and between local ministries and branches; at the same time, continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.
The two leaders also agreed to continue coordinating the implementation of activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations "Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year" (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025); create favorable conditions and encourage the expansion of participation of organizations and enterprises of the two countries in the socio-economic development process of each country; focus on promoting economic - trade and investment cooperation, especially in the areas of strategic cooperation agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders, as well as expand to other potential areas in the spirit of "For Vietnam, Cuba is ready to donate its blood"; "For Cuba, Vietnam is ready to donate its time, efforts and intelligence" demonstrating the pure international spirit and the common iron and aquatic tradition of the Vietnamese people.
