Prime Minister Le Minh Hung congratulated Mr. Rajpal Singh on being appointed as Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam at a time when relations between the two countries are entering a stage of strong development with many new cooperation prospects; believing that with his diplomatic experience, the Ambassador will have a successful term, contributing to promoting and further deepening the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Emphasizing that economy, trade and investment continue to be important pillars, a key driving force to promote bilateral relations, the Prime Minister requested Singapore to prioritize upgrading the network of Vietnam - Singapore industrial parks, with the goal of reaching the milestone of 30 VSIP in 2026; the two sides actively coordinate to soon implement the practical connection of VNeID and SingPass; promote cooperation in new priority areas of Vietnam and Singapore with strengths such as clean energy, including offshore wind power exports from Vietnam to Singapore, carbon credit exchange, expanding cooperation on digital government, smart cities, national data centers, science and technology, high-quality human resource training; promoting cultural, educational and people-to-people exchanges.
The Prime Minister requested the two sides to closely coordinate to successfully organize the first Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Dialogue as well as major events in 2027 when Singapore assumes the role of ASEAN Chair and Vietnam hosts APEC; promote the concretization of high-level commitments and agreements between the two countries.
Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Rajpal Singh affirmed that he will actively act as a bridge to contribute to making Vietnam-Singapore relations develop more strongly in the coming time. The Ambassador affirmed that the two sides still have many potential areas of cooperation.
The Ambassador affirmed that he will make efforts to coordinate and promote the effective implementation of the Action Program for the period 2025-2030, bringing the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into depth and effectiveness, not only in traditional fields, but also in new fields, including technology connection, the development of the second generation VSIP with high science and technology content, clean energy connection, sustainable urban development, development of international financial centers, and smart cities.
The Ambassador shared that Singapore looks forward to the upcoming first Singapore - Vietnam Strategic Dialogue session, considering this an important step in the cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the People's Action Party of Singapore as well as between the two countries.
The Ambassador thanked Vietnam for supporting Singapore in the field of food security; expressed Singapore's desire to increase imports of clean agricultural and aquatic products from Vietnam.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of promoting business connections, encouraging Singaporean businesses to continue to invest and cooperate in business in Vietnam; committed to continuing to promote the effective implementation of the Joint Statement between the economic ministers of the two countries on strengthening supply chain resilience; actively coordinate to concretize cooperation fields based on high-level agreements between the two sides; promote people-to-people exchanges, educational cooperation, science - technology and innovation; support Singapore to continue to accompany Vietnam in training and human resource development through cooperation agreements on cadre training.
