In the afternoon of August 10 (local time), in Sydney, General Secretary and President To Lam received Mr. Nicholas Moore - Special Envoy of the Australian Government to Southeast Asia.
At the reception, Australian Government Special Envoy for Southeast Asia Nicholas Moore exchanged opportunities to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam such as implementing Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040; directions for trade expansion, promoting bilateral investment; connecting businesses and investors with Vietnam's priority sectors; developing substantive cooperation models.
Affirming that trade cooperation between the two countries has achieved very positive results in the past time, Mr. Nicholas Moore said that it is necessary to aim for even higher trade value.
He said he had sent a report to the Australian Government on the scale of trade between the two countries and proposed recommendations for solutions to promote two-way trade and investment.
According to Australian Government Special Envoy for Southeast Asia Nicholas Moore, both Vietnam and Australia can be "destinations" for technology startups. Currently, many investors want to invest in Vietnam because Vietnam clearly expresses its message, ambitions and aspirations for development along with a dynamic market. The large community of Vietnamese people and Vietnamese students studying in Australia is also a great opportunity to promote innovative startups, contributing to the growth of the two countries.
General Secretary and President To Lam wished Vietnam to continue to be one of Australia's key partners in the process of implementing Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040; highly appreciated Mr. Nicholas Moore's contributions to building this strategy and promoting connections between the Australian Government and the business community and investors.
General Secretary and President affirmed that Vietnam considers Australia to be one of the leading important partners in the Indo-Pacific region, the relationship between the two countries is facing many new opportunities, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership needs to continue to promote increasingly substantive and effective development. The goal is not only to expand trade and investment, but more importantly, to jointly create new growth drivers.
General Secretary and President said that Vietnam hopes Australia will continue to be an important companion partner. With the advantages of a stable investment environment, young human resources, strategic position in the supply chain and increasingly expanding market size, Vietnam has many conditions to become a priority destination for Australian businesses and investors. Vietnam prioritizes attracting projects with advanced technology, modern management, high added value, technology transfer capacity, human resource training, and strengthening domestic business links.
The General Secretary and President said that cooperation between the two countries needs to strongly shift to long-term cooperation programs on innovation, science and technology, human resource development, green finance, high-quality infrastructure, strategic supply chains, education and research.
Vietnam and Australia have high complementarity in terms of resources, development level, and vision for the region. The two sides need to continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation into specific economic programs and projects, contributing to consolidating the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, practically improving the lives of people and the development of the country.
