Looking back at the entire journey of the Party leading the nation
On the morning of March 4, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam, Head of the Steering Committee for summarizing 100 years of Party leadership of the Vietnamese Revolution and 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism (CNXH) (Steering Committee) chaired a meeting with the Editorial Team to summarize 100 years of Party leadership of the Revolution and 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism.
Attending the meeting were members of the Politburo, Secretaries of the Party Central Committee: Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung; Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Le Minh Tri; Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet; Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi. Also attending were members of the Politburo, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Doan Minh Huan.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that we are preparing for a special historical milestone: commemorating the 100th anniversary of the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 40th anniversary of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism. This is not only a time achievement, but also the length of a revolutionary journey full of sacrifice, hardship, creativity and development.
The General Secretary clearly stated that summarizing 100 years is an opportunity for us to look back at the entire journey of the Party leading the nation: from the struggle for independence and national reunification, to building and protecting the socialist Fatherland; from the centralized planning mechanism to the Comprehensive Renovation; from a poor and backward country to a country with an increasingly high position in the international arena.
Summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform is an opportunity for us to scientifically, comprehensively, and objectively assess the realization of the Party's strategic orientations in the transition period. This is an opportunity to clarify the development model, achievements, limitations, inadequacies, causes and lessons learned.
These two summary contents are closely linked to each other. Summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution must provide a comprehensive historical view, drawing out lessons of the rule of the Vietnamese revolution to orient the country's development in the next 100 years.
Summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transition period helps us delve into the theory and practice of the Doi Moi period - a period of turning point significance for the country's development. It is important that we determine the time of end of the transition period, the time when our country is a developed socialist country.
Preparing theoretical and practical basis for the new development stage
The General Secretary also stated clearly that this work not only serves the requirements of celebration but more importantly is to prepare theoretical and practical basis for strategic decisions in the new development stage, towards 2045 and beyond.
Therefore, this must be a widespread political activity, with the participation of the entire political system, from central committees, ministries, branches, and mass organizations to localities throughout the country.
The General Secretary clearly stated that it is necessary to determine from the beginning a scientific, modern, and effective working method: applying information technology, building a digital database system; assigning and coordinating thematic groups; strengthening academic exchange; summary groups and general groups regularly exchange information.
The principles are: serious, scientific, objective, comprehensive, with new discoveries; combining tightness in organization with creativity in thinking; between inheritance and development; between summarizing the past and orienting the future. The Theoretical Council must be the core force participating in summarizing.
The General Secretary emphasized that from now to 2030, although it is 5 years, if we want to build a worthy summary project, the workload is very large, requiring close, smooth, and scientific coordination between the Steering Committee and the Editorial Teams; between the standing agency and agencies, departments, ministries, branches, and localities.
