Vietnam ranks 16th in the world in terms of Internet users with more than 70 million registered social network accounts, of which one-third are minors.
According to statistics from the Center for Health and Population Initiatives, nearly 36.5% of children have experienced information and images related to violence on the Internet. More than 13% of children have been exposed to unwanted pornography online.
Understanding the urgent needs of education and parents, FPT Telecom has launched a campaign to "cover" safe Internet to primary schools nationwide, aiming to create a safe online environment where children can study, develop comprehensively and ensure security and safety.
FPT Telecom representative emphasized: "The common goal is to work with schools and parents to raise awareness of network safety, coordinate control, and prevent harmful content, fraud risks... for vulnerable students.
This is a practical solution for teaching and learning when the use of the Internet in schools is essential and needs to be proactively controlled. We hope that in the coming time, we will work with departments, branches, sectors and schools to build a safe cyberspace for education in localities nationwide."
The message "Safe Internet" was deployed by FPT Telecom and schools to raise awareness for students and parents, accompanying primary schools in many activities such as instructing on safe internet usage with the F-Safe Go security application; installing propaganda signs in the canteen area, school yard...
Ms. Bui Tu Quyen - Principal of Dang Van Duc Primary School, Vung Tau City shared: "The school has always been interested in building a healthy Internet environment for students in studying and comprehensive development. Thanks to FPT Telecom's safe Internet solution, the school has been more proactive and confident in going in the right direction in protecting the safety of students in cyberspace".
With advanced Wi-Fi 6 technology combined with the F-Safe Go security application (an application by FPT Telecom in cooperation with F-Secure Security Group in Finland), it has created a "Safe Internet" solution.
This comprehensive protection solution helps schools proactively prevent harmful content, protect electronic devices, and limit students' time at school.
One of the localities that strongly supports and accompanies FPT Telecom at 60 primary schools is Vung Tau city.
Mr. Vo Huu Do, representative of FPT Telecom Vung Tau branch, said: "Currently, this project has been deployed at 70 schools in the local area with great support from a large number of teachers and parents. The educational environment can now be enhanced to ensure safety in cyberspace, helping teachers proactively control and parents feel more secure when their children are studying in a safe environment."
The Safe Internet for Schools campaign was quickly deployed by FPT Telecom for 2 months (August 2024 - September 2024). As of September 18, FPT Telecom has deployed it in more than 600 primary schools nationwide from North to South. It is expected that by the end of September 2024, FPT Telecom will complete the safe internet coverage for a total of 1,000 primary schools nationwide.
