Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Board of Directors of the Provincial Bank for Social Policies Branch Le Van Phuoc said: By the end of 2024, policy credit has helped the coastal province of An Giang to have only 0.92% of poor households. Notably, contributing with the locality to reduce the multidimensional poverty rate from 1.27% in mid-2024 to 0.91% by the end of 2025, striving to ensure that 100% of poor households and policy beneficiaries in need can borrow preferential loans from the State.

Concentrating all resources and capital sources to help people reduce poverty
Director of the An Giang Provincial Bank for Social Policies Branch Doan Cong Thiet shared: After 6 months of merging, the branch has synchronously implemented appropriate solutions, focused on mobilizing large capital sources, organized timely and safe transfer of State's preferential capital to villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods, to each poor household and ethnic minority families in difficulty.
The 23-year journey for social security of the An Giang branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has achieved outstanding achievements, which is focusing on mobilizing large capital and effectively implementing 20 State policy credit programs. By the end of 2025, the total capital is estimated to reach over VND 13,488 billion, an increase of more than VND 1,616 billion compared to the beginning of the year, reaching 100% of the growth target.
Along with other mobilized capital sources, capital from local budgets entrusted reached nearly 1,300 billion VND, accounting for 9.58% of total capital. Along with that, lending sales to date have reached more than VND4,000 billion, with nearly 69,000 poor households and other policy beneficiaries.
The whole province has 80,000 poor households and other policy beneficiaries accessing social policy credit capital. Thereby, supporting the creation of jobs for more than 20,000 workers and creating conditions for 412 workers to work abroad for a limited period, 115 people who have completed their prison sentences have jobs, helping more than 15,400 HSSVs in difficult circumstances borrow capital to study, more than 3,148 production and business households in disadvantaged areas and traders in disadvantaged areas borrow capital to invest in production and business, more than 22,100 clean water projects and rural environmental sanitation works were built and 450 customers borrowed capital to build, renovate houses, rent and buy social housing according to Government regulations.
Mr. Danh Sa Ray's family in Thoi Trung hamlet, Dinh Hoa commune used to have a very difficult life, mainly relying on renting. In 2023, with the amount of 40 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, his family invested in fishing gear and nets; at the same time, consulted suitable livestock models, then bought 4 breeding goats to raise.

To save on livestock farming costs, every day, Mr. Sa Ray uses waste from the vegetable garden around his house to feed goats. Up to now, the herd has developed 12 goats, he sold 6 to support his family. The remaining goats continue to breed and earn regular income.
Or the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan in Hon Dat commune has borrowed preferential capital 03 times from the Hon Dat Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to invest in raising breeding cows, growing mangoes and taking good care of the education of all 04 children. Thanks to that, her family's economy is prosperous and her children have stable jobs after graduating.
"I am very grateful to the Party, the State, the government and the local Social Policy Bank. Thanks to preferential credit policies, our children and grandchildren of farmers have the opportunity to study to the fullest, our family life has gradually stabilized, and we have reduced poverty and deprivation," Ms. Lan said emotionally.
Maintaining policy credit flow
Director of the An Giang Provincial Bank for Social Policies Branch Doan Cong Thiet said: The branch has directed transaction offices across the area to continue to maintain the implementation of 298 transaction points of communes and old wards. In particular, coordinate with the People's Committee of the commune and ward (new), creating favorable conditions for people in confirming loan documents and authorization procedures, so as not to encounter problems with administrative procedures. All transactions of the unit since the beginning of July have been organized on schedule, capital has been delivered to the site, ensuring that the rights of the people are not disrupted".

Thanks to the close direction of the VBSP at the higher level, local leaders, close coordination with socio-political organizations, and the system of 6,537 Savings and Loan Groups, the branch has truly become a solid bridge to promptly and safely transfer capital to the right beneficiaries.
Promoting the achieved achievements, with the spirit of "Understanding the people's hearts, serving wholeheartedly", "All for the poor, leaving no one behind", the An Giang branch of the Social Policy Bank will continue to maintain a smooth flow of credit, closely following the grassroots level every day, fully and promptly transferring all preferential capital from the State to villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods, helping poor households and ethnic minority families to borrow preferential capital, creating consensus, trust and support from the people.
