Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) and the National Power System and Market Operator Company (NSMO) have just signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen coordination in power system operation, data sharing, load forecasting and management of distributed energy sources in the new period.
The ceremony was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, General Director of EVNHCMC and Mr. Nguyen Duc Ninh, General Director of NSMO.
According to the agreement, NSMO and EVNHCMC will strengthen coordination in developing methods and calculating 220-110kV power grid operation; sharing operation data in real time; forecasting power demand and output; and coordinating the management of distributed power sources, rooftop solar power, energy storage systems and new types of loads.
The two sides will also study the application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, Digital Twin digital grid model and strengthen experience exchange in the field of information security and safety, serving the modernization and digital transformation of electricity system operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh said that this cooperation agreement inherits the foundation of coordination between the two units from 2022. Over the past time, the close coordination between EVNHCMC and NSMO, directly the Southern Power System Dispatch Center, has made an important contribution to ensuring safe and stable power supply to serve the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, the requirement for coordination between the two units is increasing as the scale of the Ho Chi Minh City power system continues to expand, load increases rapidly and the power source structure has many changes. The maximum capacity of the system has now reached 9,668MW; along with that is the rapid development of rooftop solar power, energy storage systems, electric transport vehicles, data centers and high-tech load types. These changes pose the requirement to improve forecasting capacity, data sharing and coordinate power system operation in an increasingly flexible and modern direction.
General Director of EVNHCMC Nguyen Van Thanh affirmed that EVNHCMC will closely coordinate, proactively share data and mobilize resources to effectively implement the agreed contents, thereby contributing to ensuring energy security and meeting the development requirements of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Ninh, General Director of NSMO, said that in the context of Ho Chi Minh City having increasingly large load scale and many new types of loads and power sources appearing, the two units need to focus on coordinating the management of large loads, high-tech loads, self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power and power storage systems. At the same time, the sharing of information, operating data and improving the quality of load forecasting needs to be implemented regularly and practically to meet the requirements of operating the power system in the coming period.
