In the men's Marathon, Ayalew Seleshi Simaneh from Ethiopia made a strong breakthrough in the sprint to finish first with a score of 2:23:13, winning the overall championship. two northern European compatriots, Wondale Melsew Baye and Kebede Leta Girma, ranked second and third respectively with the achievements of 2:23:30 and 2:23:34. The remaining two positions in the Top 5 belong to Damte Wendwesen Tilahun (Ethiopia, 2:23:54) and Kogei Hosea (Kenya, 2:24:34), concluding a competitive race.

In the women's marathon event, Pham Thi Hong Le excellently surpassed many international opponents to finish first with a time of 2:480.. The next positions belonged to Mohamed Yenework Husen, Birehan Marta Tinsae and Zega Mestu Sirabzu (Ethiopia).
