Sustainable light from young hands

The 4.5km route from Quan Son to Huu Kien (Lang Son) used to be a nightmare for people because of the winding steep pass. When surveying this terrain, we found that if people had to move around at night, especially during storms without lights, it would be very dangerous, said Ms. Ly Thi Ngoc Dung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hanoi University of Culture. This is the reason why the school's volunteer student team, with the support of the Green Future Fund, is determined to bring "green light" to the people here.

The installation of 100 lamp posts in the hot weather and steep terrain with many streams is a big challenge for students of Hanoi University of Culture. "The weather in Lang Son is very hot and sunny, carrying each lamp post over a steep slope and winding through the stream is an obstacle and also the biggest challenge. But every time we see the lights rise, seeing the people happy, we forget all the fatigue, student To Uyen recounted.

Also in this program, the volunteer team of Hanoi University of Science and Technology has completed the installation of 105 lamp posts in Thai Nguyen and Ninh Binh. The construction process requires high precision, the students' technicians have carefully calculated from drilling holes on hard rock and soil to installing batteries to optimize absorption, ensuring stable and long-term lighting.
Light up faith in a green future
The special thing is the scale of the campaign that has spread throughout the regions from North to South. In Hue City, the Youth Union of universities has implemented many lighting projects in mountainous areas lacking electricity. Long Quang border commune is one of the priority places. Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong, Secretary of the Phu Xuan University Youth Union, said: "This is a mountainous and mountainous commune with serious power shortages, especially at night. The route we have chosen is 600m long, an important inter-village road connecting communities".

Meanwhile, in the Southeast, where the School of Tourism - Hue University is implementing the project, volunteers also support disease prevention. Students had to adjust their plans, work with local police, soldiers and militia during the day to dig holes to bury infected livestock, and at night to focus on installing lighting systems to keep up with progress.

In A Luoi 4 commune, students of the University of Foreign Languages - Hue University have overcome the erratic sun and rain of the highlands to bring light to Ba Lach village, where floods and landslides often occur. Mr. Nguyen Dac Hinh, Secretary of the A Luoi 4 Commune Youth Union, shared: "Since the lights are available, people, especially students, can have fun comfortably in the evening, no longer afraid of security and order issues".

In the South, Son My commune, Lam Dong province after the merger, there are isolated areas. People used to have to go through 3-4 km long deserted roads to get to densely populated areas. But now, the road has been lit up. Ms. Huong Chi, a local resident, was worried because the road was dangerous at night, often there were bad guys lurking around to snatch. "Now that I have a light, everyone is more assured," Ms. Huong Chi said emotionally. The special thing this year is that 100% of projects using solar lighting, both technical and economic, also demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development.

The results of the "Green Light" campaign are truly impressive with 33,600 meters of rural traffic lights lit from North to South, bringing direct benefits to more than 70,000 people in remote areas. Mr. Nguyen Bao Minh, representative of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Delegation, assessed: "The campaign has created fairness between urban and rural areas in lighting infrastructure, while contributing to building a sustainable lifestyle".

From the dreary pig villages in the highlands to the red dirt roads in remote rural areas, the Green Summer 2025 campaign, with the support of the Green Future Fund, has not only brought light to every road, but also lit up the belief in a green future, where sustainable development is associated with the hearts and hands of young people.
The Green Future Fund, established by Vingroup Corporation on July 7, 2023, has the mission of contributing to the Government's goal of reducing net emissions to "0" by 2050. The fund promotes green journeys in daily life, raises public awareness and calls on each individual to take action today to protect the environment for future generations.
The Fund's large-scale community activities include: "4th Green Day" campaign with a series of incentive programs from member companies and affiliated companies of Vingroup Corporation for millions of customers to encourage green lifestyles; "Action together for the green sea" campaign mobilizes about 10,000 Vingroup staff and volunteers to collect and clean up on the banks and river mouths to celebrate World Ocean Day 2025; "Green Summer" campaign 2025 with the participation of the Youth Union of 33 agencies, institutes, schools, implementing nearly 30 projects in 14 provinces and cities across the country with about 81,000 beneficiaries; "Green Voice" and "Send to the Future 2050" Contest for students from 1 to 3 levels, attracting nearly 20,000 students, spreading to 334 schools across the country...
