Having to take my husband home because there are no more hospital fees
These days, the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hong's family (born in 1995, in Ngan Ha residential group, Dong Ninh Hoa, Khanh Hoa province) is even more heavier as her husband has to lie in one place after a serious illness.
Ms. Hong's husband is Mr. Duong Ninh (born in 1989). According to her, about 7 years ago, he started to suffer from heart disease, his health declined and he could almost not work to earn income as before. Since then, the economic burden of the whole family fell on the shoulders of the young wife. Ms. Hong both worked, took care of her husband and raised two young children.
Life was already difficult, recently there was another upheaval when Mr. Ninh suffered a brain hemorrhage, paralysis and had to be treated at the hospital.
Recently, Mr. Ninh's condition has worsened, and doctors are aiming to transfer Mr. Ninh to Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) to continue treatment. However, the amount of money the family needs to prepare for travel, treatment and initial costs is up to about 20 million VND.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hong said that the whole family did not have even 2 million VND. After many days of consideration, the young woman was forced to make a discharge paper for her husband and bring him home. This was also the decision that made her most remorseful. She knew that her husband still needed to be monitored and treated, but the hospital fees, medicine and living expenses had exceeded the family's ability.

Previously, during Mr. Ninh's treatment, Ms. Hong had to ask for help from local people and philanthropists. Both families were not well-off, so they could only provide some support.
“Now my husband is lying in one place, I can't go to work. I don't know where to get money for my husband's treatment, and my two children are also about to enter the new school year,” she said.
Hope you don't have to interrupt your studies
When her husband was seriously ill, Ms. Hong was the main breadwinner in the family. Her job was unstable, her income mainly came from small jobs, including selling rice paper.
Some days she earns about 150,000 VND, and some days she has no income. The meager amount of money has to be divided among food, tuition fees for the two children, medicine for her husband and a series of other expenses. Ms. Hong recounted that after her husband seriously ill, she had to run back and forth to take care of her husband and could not continue her daily work, and the meager income of the family was almost completely lost.
For Ms. Hong, what worries her most at this time besides her husband's health is the future of her two children, one in 8th grade and one this year in 9th grade. The new school year is approaching, and the money for books, clothes, and study for the family is now becoming a burden.
I just hope to have money to treat my husband's illness and take care of my two children to go to school like their friends. Many times I am afraid that because of my parents' difficulties, my children will have to endure deprivation, affecting their studies," Ms. Hong said.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Van - Head of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ngan Ha Residential Group (Dong Ninh Hoa, Khanh Hoa province) said that the locality is aware of Ms. Hong's family's difficult circumstances. "The family of the two children is in great difficulty, the residential group is also trying to help and assist. Last year, thanks to flood relief money, Ninh also bought insurance, but Ninh's condition is getting worse and worse. We also hope that philanthropists will support the family to have money for treatment and the two young children to have enough conditions to enter the new school year," Ms. Van said.
