Sharing unverified information about history, may be fined up to 20 million VND

Point d, Clause 1, Article 9, Section 1, Chapter II of Decree No. 330/2026/ND-CP stipulating penalties for administrative violations in the field of network security and personal data protection (effective August 19, 2026) stipulates the level of penalties for acts of providing and sharing information in cyberspace with content violating the law, affecting security and order as follows:

1. A fine of between 5 million VND and 10 million VND shall be imposed for the following acts:

d) Providing and sharing unverified information related to history and revolutionary traditions.

Clause 3, Article 9, Section 1, Chapter II, Decree No. 330/2026/ND-CP stipulates remedial measures as follows:

a) Forcing the removal and deletion of violating information for acts specified in clauses 1 and 2 of this Article;

b) Forcing correction of false information regarding the acts specified in Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article.

Clause 1, Article 7 of Decree No. 330/2026/ND-CP stipulates the level of fines and sanctioning authority as follows:

1. From Section 1 to Section 5 of Chapter II, this Decree stipulates the level of fines applied to administrative violations in the field of network security committed by individuals. In case an organization has the same violation, the fine applied to the organization is equal to two times the fine applied to the individual.

Thus, from August 19, 2026, the fine for individuals providing and sharing unverified information related to history is from 5 million VND to 10 million VND and from 10 million VND to 20 million VND for organizations. At the same time, it is necessary to force the removal and deletion of violating information or force correction of false information according to the regulations cited above.
